Just finished shed project

Haven't been on lately what with moving house, redundancy and two job changes, but my first project out the shed is this. Testo Reaction Meter machine. Turned this round on my four days off between shifts. Nice little machine and purely mechanical, which came as a surprise. Hardest thing was re maki...

Re: Looking for Cascade payout cup

If you mean the whole plastic insert that fits into the front of the Cascade, you would only be lucky if someone has a breaker, which may be possible as I remember someone selling a front without trips etc. You could always make something out of sheet metal to fit as I doubt you would find an alter...

Re: Finally it's finished

Thank you all. It was well worth losing the odd finger. It was stitched back on. They made a good job of it but a very painfull few months. The top part of the frame should have been 4 inches to house the topflash but after many cock ups I was getting down to my last piece of wood so it ended up 2 i...

Win a Mint - finally it's finished

I was extremely lucky simply because I turned on my computer one day and did my usual searches of spares and parts, and came across an item of such rarity I snapped it up and then found it was possibly the last of its type ever, Thanks Jerry, nice one and a pleasure to have met you that day. Anyway,...

Re: 10p mechanical coin acceptor

Thanks everyone, I've had a look and saved the seller on ebay for further watching. I got chatting to a bloke in the pub who repairs modern machines and pool tables, pinball, etc. who's now on the look out for me. He works for a family run business which have been around for donkeys', so he might co...

Re: 10p mechanical coin acceptor

Mmm... good response and helpful. I think I am going for the coin rejector theory. I know these devices are adjustable to reject on diameter and weight and some other mechanical devices have a magnet for rejecting ferrous content, and then there's the electronic type, but anything electric I'm not i...

10p mechanical coin acceptor

I am looking around for a coin acceptor to go in my 10p Cascade I am building from scratch. I have found a company near Broadstairs doing one for about 21 quid which I think I should be snapping the guy's arm off for. Does anyone know if this price can be beaten and any companies that supply mechani...

Ah, thanks - a penny is about 18 mm diameter so I did have to make these parts.

Latest on making parts for Cascade project

I have been wanting to build a Cascade machine for some time and eventually got started. I wanted my machine to run on 10 pence's, so the trickiest parts to make were the coin triggers or coin acceptors. I wanted to purchase but after thinking that the parts available were for old pennies or two pen...

Re: Scrap metal allwin and other projects

Ah, that's interesting. Looks very well engineered with heavier gauge steel construction, for the linkages and parts of the mechanism. Looks more complicated than my machine. I wonder if it does more than pay out a Kit Kat. Maybe returns the coin or gives a free ball as well?

Re: Jubilee Tankards & Sevens payout puzzle

I indeed did. Nothing worked. Machine was seized up and case was riddled with wood worm, almost falling apart, but for 50 quid thought it was worth it. No idea what it's worth now.

Re: HELP HELP HELP MY BRAIN'S SCRAMBLED

I think yes, there are definitely two holes in the slide, but two release horizontal bars which move sideways like a ratchet to allow the slide to move back. I think they are different lengths to allow the amount it moves back, but I think I will have to dismantle it again now I have new info, to fu...

Re: HELP HELP HELP MY BRAIN S SCRAMBLED

Many thanks, that seems to make sense and I did wonder what the tube was for that isn't connected to anything mechanical at the top. I am disappointed that I will never see or hear a rattle of silver.

Yes, my mistake, it clearly says South Parade Pier, but thanks - a very interesting story and an interesting period, I bet, in your working history. I am a millwright by trade, so when I heard various old rides from around the country were being restored down in Margate ready to go into the new heri...
