Midas Touch

After the recent discussion around the special feature Midas Touch, I picked up a Hi Top (from ebay) with what I think is the complete Midas Touch arrangement, not that I understand how they work, but given this is my third Hi Top with the feature, it is the only one with the parts still in place as...

Re: Vintage Slots in Films and Newsreels

Here is a clip from that great film "IF" (1968) by Lindsay Anderson with Malcolm McDowell. It is the famous cafe scene with McDowell and Christine Noonan playing naked lions in front of a nice pair of bandits, a Sun Chief and a Mills Hi top console. Some of the shots were filmed in black and white, ...

Slide identity

Someone a while ago showed me the various numbers to identify the coinage on slides, I believe existed on Mills and Sega slides. This would help you tell the difference between say a 6d slide and a 5c slide. I know you can line up a stack of coins, but it would be useful for reference if anyone know...

Re: Cranes, Diggers, Merchandisers

Stunning work, I came across one of these when I visited San Francisco at the Musee Mechanique Museum on Pier 45. If you ever get the chance to visit this stunning city you have to make a trip to this museum, it is free and a lot of fun. Amazing array of slots, working models etc. I know PennyMachin...

Re: Later Mills slots

I believe the symbols you are talking about are what are called "Midas" feature, which typically on some machines would provide bonus wins during a period when normally a light is lit indicating that hitting a Midas feature got that bonus. I have this feature on a Sega High Top, but all the componen...

Bird automatum slot

Something slightly different, at auction next week at Gardiner Houlgate auctions near Bath . Mechanical penny-in-the-slot singing birds automaton, comprising three birds opening beaks, turning heads and flicking tails, circa 1920s, under a glass dome over a blue velvet lined base, 25" high overall *...

Later Mills slots

I have seen different later variants of Mills slots at auctions and on this forum, but am unclear what the last production models that Mills actually made were and whether these later machines were actually companies using the Mills name. Some of these use oringinal Mills/Sega mechanisms or close co...

Possible useful spares and lock vendor

Not sure to where to place this post as it is probably something for the links area. Came across this possible useful reseller of slots spares in the US. Have no experience of them, but they appeared to have a reasonable selection of things like locks and some other parts for sale. Maybe of use to s...

Re: Clown Catcher

I bet it wouldn't be difficult to modify an old brass garden sprayer, as the pump mechanism is there, just need to shorten the shaft and tube, would of thought it not too great an issue with a bit of soldering. Very cheap as well.... There are many different sizes available...
