Most unusual slot vendor ever??
Saw this article from the Daily Sketch (that brings back memories from the 1950s). This piece is dated 1897. I guess it never caught on. A clever idea in its day though.

Idea for the next Coventry auction?
I have an idea for the next Coventry auction, it may or may not be a good idea so Im suggesting it here to see what others think. Firstly the people who run the auction will cheer up considerably when I say that it will cost them nothing and cause them no extra work and may be good for the auction i...

Re: Buckley Big Cherry / Copper King
Also, what part of the machine spins the wheel? It do not always spin fast, sometimes real slow. The slow moving reels may well be just that it's dirty. Clean all the old grease off and lightly oil the parts not involved with the coins and see what that does. Photos of the mech please and we can he...

Am I missing something here? The piece seems to say they know who removed the rides. Surely this means that company are the thieves. Am I reading it wrong?

Thanks for posting the sequence card. I've been looking for one off these. Although my machine has the oval card holder and not the round one, I think I can do something with it.

In fact our nearest member is in Reunion Island and is a mere 4310 miles from the fair, our nearest "down under" member is 4628 miles and our nearest USA member is 7504 miles away. Anyway, I don't see why we should have to pay as we would surely be guest speakers - my talks on "The Mi...

Re: Balfour Silver Queen identified
I have read that the tooling for the "Silver Queen" went on to be used for Bell-Fruit's "Three Alike", although I've never even seen a photo of "Three Alike"I've never seen a mechanical slot made by Bell Fruit.

Re: Misspent youth
Irons are inexpensive and work OK, but soldering guns are better - instant high heat. First thing you will find is it takes a while to heat the area, then suddenly it's too hot. If you're soldering a wire to a switch, try to clip some sort of metal clip to the switch to act as a heat sink to avoid o...

Re: Misspent youth
Back in the '70s, long before I started collecting slots, I collected and fixed pinballs. I owned the earlier 1950s Straight Flush which was a truly great machine, great play and always repairable. Of all the machines I owned, it was second only to the "Kings and Queens". I bought both fro...

Ambulance makes unwelcome visit to cottage next door
7.30am today I woke to the noise of this ambulance hitting the cottage two doors along from mine. No one hurt, guess the driver fell asleep. He failed to turn the bend and hit at top speed. The boulder you can see next to the van was picked up and thrown 15 feet. The house will need to be re-built. ...

My friendly MP Norman Baker has, at long last, received a reply from the minister who covers the machine licences. I won't show it here because it's useless. Just goes on about his people finding us a solution and that solution is a single machine permit. Anyway, neither I nor Norman Baker are satis...

Re: Bradshaw's Little Stockbroker
In an attempt to understand how this machine works, I've downloaded the patent and it makes interesting and, to me anyway, surprising reading. The first thing I noticed is that although the "stocks and shares" version is stated as the "constructional" version it could be converte...

Really good video, and my Cricketers could be either of those shown in close-up. I can see no differences to mine as it was before I started to strip it down. Interesting thing about the video, I've looked at it carefully and not one person looks to be having a good time!! Not a single smile, half t...
