Re: Info On Mills Roman Head

Funnily enough, I listed a Mills Hi-Top last night, and after an increasingly strident stream of messages insisting that I sold the machine to him directly, which ended with me messaging him There is no "buy it now" price, please either bid on it or go away and stop wasting my time. , with...

Re: Testo Reaction Machine

I've restored one (in fact, I think it's the one in the photo above) and I stripped it because it had been painted appallingly badly in Ronseal. Then I varnished it and it looked a lot better, although you should bear in mind that the cabinets are made of plywood which isn't particularly attractive....

Yes, it was at a bid of £330 when I saw it a few days ago.

Are prices falling?

I have noticed recently that machines don't seem to be making the prices they were a year or so ago. On eBay recently a Bryan's Clock attracted a highest bid of only £320 (which didn't reach reserve) and the machine was described as being in full working order and looked very clean and unmolested. I...

Firstly, I appreciate all of the comments from the guests, although they cannot of course be given the credence that they would be given if they were Registered Posters.

And secondly, I issued the County Court Summons this afternoon.

The point is that he spent a six-figure sum on that pier at a time when he was taking money from people in exchange for a magazine that he had no intention of producing. To be frank, he is lucky not to be facing criminal charges. Hunt is no different to anybody else who makes a contract- he is under...

In the email I sent you I gave you seven days to refund my subscription with my expenses and if you don't, then I am going to obtain a CCJ against you. You are no different to anybody else who makes a contract. You are under a legal obligation to honour it and if you don't pay up then it is going to...

With all due respect, I disagree with you. The law does not encompass vintage penny slot machines.

My own preferred method is to separate the top and bottom halves of the mechanism, making notes of where the various circlips etc are fitted and then give the bottom half a paraffin wash with a half-inch paintbrush, which removes all of the congealed grease and the swarf which seems to cling to it. ...

Legal Action against Steve Hunt.

I have written to Steve Hunt giving him seven days to refund my AAM subscription along with my expenses, a total of £282. If he does not respond, refunding my claim in full I am going to start a County Court action against him and/or his business. County Court action is nowhere near as daunting as i...

Personally I dislike WD40 other than for a "quick fix" and always use light machine oil for lubrication of bandits.

The lightest wipe with a piece of kitchen towel is enough and the general rule I apply is "if you can see oil, then you have used too much".

My argument if questioned about selling a vintage machine would be that since it was not capable of operating on legal tender or anything that could be construed as a token, that it was by definition "scrap". Out of interest, does anyone know if a private vendor has ever been approached by...

I may be wrong- in fact it is my default position :D :D :D - but I thought I had read somewhere that machines operating on a stake of no more than 2p were exempt from this legislation?

Well, I possibly don't understand the law then. I can understand that an Allwin could maybe be described as a game of skill, but a one-armed-bandit or a Bryan's clock couldn't possibly be and yet I see plenty on eBay being sold by private individuals. I'm not finding fault with your position here re...

When is it illegal to sell a slot machine?

I'm curious to know about the legality of buying or selling a machine which does not reach its reserve at auction. Obviously it does not become illegal ever to sell such a machine, but what is the time or distance from the auction at which such a sale is not illegal? (This topic has been edited and ...

They are very simple, and I'll try to post some video as you suggest, but lighting conditions are too poor at the moment and I don't have any supplementary lighting, but here's how mine works. The dropping of the penny activates a see-saw lever which releases the ball. If you lose, the ball returns ...

Re: How much does he owe us?

The AAM subscriber base was rumoured to be around a 1000. At £36 a year per subscription, that's £36,000. When the AAM disapeared, some would have been owed a full year's subscription and others would have been owed just 1 or 2 issues. I received one copy for my £36, and despite repeated requests f...

Very difficult to do this without removing the colour from the payout symbols. Either satisfy yourself with nothing more than a wipe with a damp cloth or prepare for a full restoration.

"Mystery Payouts" aren't mysterious- local markets (ie different countries) have different rules for minimum payouts and machines are factory designed to have a payout of around 70%. Where the local market requires a greater percentage payout- say 75%-, the payout discs have extra holes dr...
