Re: Win A Rowntrees Gum Allwin

Many thanks Treefrog. Good idea about laying the bits out! He's only a short hop down the M5 from me so may see if I can have a look first. Sorry to be a pain and maybe I should've gone to specsavers but can you point me to the eBay item you mentioned at £200 if its a current listing as I can't see ...

Win A Rowntrees Gum Allwin

I'm toying with bidding on this one on eBay (yes, I probably am mad!) to give me something to do :!: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ALLWIN-WIN-A-ROWNTREES-GUM-1d-PLAY-RESTORATION-PROJECT-IN-SOMERSET/391957802128?hash=item5b42816c90:g:Bk4AAOSwuQxaU2ly fruitgum.jpg but wondering if the cabinet and what's ...

Presume you have seen this one on the melright site?
www.melright.com/bryans/collect.htm item dated July 2016 Or is that in fact the green you are referring to?

Personally I prefer to give healthy option advent calendars. First day a chunk of carrot, then a bit of celery, etc., and on the last day they get the baby cheeses.

Re: Caille / Clement & Whales Countertop disc machines

Thanks for all your help and advice again guys. !THUMBS! I'm not too worried about the case as I'm happyish to work on that and replace as necessary (brilliant recycled wood store nearby) . Am more concerned about the mechanics so I guess, pennymachines, your advice is sound - go to the auction and ...

Caille Commercial

Saw this on the EH site. Not one I've seen before but looks intriguing. Does anyone have any experience of these and does it look fixable at first sight?

Re: What bandit to restore?

Yeah, right you're going to buy a machine, open it up, then not touch it till the manual arrives... I can see that happening. Who said I wasn't going to touch it! 'fraid I tend to use manuals to find out where I went wrong, bit like getting a map out after I get lost which is why it took me 3...

Re: What bandit to restore?

Thanks again for your advice (and your offer of help coppinpr) - seems a bit like spending all your dosh on a good wallet then having no money left to put in it! :#: But looking at my "vintage slot machines buyers price guide" which has some very basic info on how they work, it seems a man...

Re: What bandit to restore?

Thanks coppinpr and geordie55 - sounds similar to my first experiences with allwins where I was scared to unscrew or remove anything but soon learned that my camera was my best friend. So the one I'm working on now (Win a Kit-Kat!) was at one point in a hundred bits in my garage and it's amazing how...

Re: what bandit to restore?

Many thanks TF and BP - very helpful as always.
Looks like a trip to the Coventry auction is a good bet (my wife sends me there frequently so I should be OK finding it :-( )
Maybe see you guys there.

What bandit to restore?

I'm relatively new to the restoration game having played the slots in the sixties then started dabbling in attempting to bring allwins back to life when I retired a year or so back. I have so far resisted trying same with a bandit as they looked a bit complicated compared with basic allwins but time...

Re: Elephant House Auctions

Agreed, and as it is with eBay, it's a case of "caveat emptor" - let the buyer beware, if you buy without seeing. A choice you make when you buy. I should add in defence of Steve I have twice bought "blind" as I couldn't get to the auction, and in both cases he personally dropped...

Thanks for your advice guys. Both of you very helpful as always. !!THUMBSX2!! Win a KitKat restoration

Would appreciate some advice please. I am in the process of bringing a Win a KitKat machine back to life and almost there with the front, new flash courtesy of Microsoft's Paint tool, and the mechanical bits (just need to buy a supply of kitkats to test it) !BUNNY! Advice I need is regarding the cab...

Re: Elephant House Auction Dates Clash Again

I appreciate not wanting to move date of Coventry but just a thought........... If Coventry moved to the following Sunday it could have 2 pros for Coventry and cons for EH. 1) Bidders at EH may fail to get items they wanted and/or decide against bidding and save their pennies in case better items at...

Re: Elephant House Auctions

Sorry to bang on about EH but just wondering if anyone knows what's happening with them. The phone number they did have (but they never replied to) seems to have been disconnected and I...
