What model name BMCo?
Topic merged - site admin. Hey, just finishing this one off and wondering if anybody can tell me if this had a name? No marquee originally on this example but maybe someone else has/had one with the mirrored marquee name? I've not seen the added deco trimmings on the cabinet front edges before, als...

Re: Seven mysteries of the Saxony allwin
Found this photo showing the mech of the reserve ball allwin I restored for a friend in 2004 or so. Was in pretty much untouched original condition and you can see the wire armature that controls the ball stop flap - it's just above the payout stop armature. So the idea of the flap was definately to...

Re: Kangaroos and Coin op Machines
Can't find any photos of the machine, maybe my father has them? But I'm certain it was an Ainsworth Clubmaster, so one that was revamped for use by Nutt And Muddle. And as Bob just pointed out to me by phone, the strips are basically rip-offs from a Mills QT. Typical Aussie style, why re-invent the ...

Re: Kangaroos and Coin op Machines
Bob, that Patent is killer! Pity you never found the machine. And I wonder what the back story is as to the theme of a kangaroo of all things? Some kind of Aussie connection there for sure. And funnily enough when I was looking through my paperwork today I spotted that award card and was thinking of...

Re: Laughing Sailor Cabinet
Not for the faint of heart! But here's my plans anyway, not showing the interior and for some reason can't find any of the building pics showing as it went up. The edge molding plans with measurements shows a cross section with multiple joints which is because I was recycling some antique mahogany a...

Re: Laughing Sailor Cabinet
Slot, the three moldings on the top lock the glass in place, glass slides in from the top. The moldings screw in from inside via the back door behind the sailor. I built a cabinet from scratch for my original figure back in the late 90's and i still have the plans. But on just looking at them now th...

Re: Australian Wineasies & showman's paint
Argee, the Moon and Stars has no mech to say of, just some chutes for a simple coin loss to the cashbox or win straight back to you. I spent some time on this one trying to get it firing properly, as someone had converted it from Pennies to Half-Pennies. Put it back but still not quite right and is ...

Unknown cast iron machine stand & stereoscope mech
Hey there, just been re-organising and cleaning out one of my storage sheds and came across this stand I own, well the top half anyway. It came from a huge old time collection in the UK so I'm pretty sure it's for a machine of some kind - maybe a Mutoscope?? The inner lip measures 8 - 7/8" wide...

Re: Caille / Clement & Whales Countertop disc machines
I've just read this whole discourse on the "Caille" wheel style machines and have found it quite interesting. Especially having never owned any of the variants, though I have had the chance to, just passed on every one within my grasp due to the Greyhound style revamping which didn't inter...

Re: Found Clown penny slot at the tip in 1977
Jason, I think this is a lot older than the '50s. Don't have time to search my library at the moment, but looks like an earlier version, especially with the ornate brass spandrels.

Re: The August Quiz - £5 prize.
Good lord, fish in a barrel! The two brackets were originally used on the cases of Stevenson and Lovett "Conveyor" and "Sky Jump" machines, if they're made of pressed steel, if made of plated brass then they were re-cast later and added by some operator to various Allwin cases fo...

Badpenny, I thought this was a coin-op forum!? Judging by the base of that "Baromoter" I'd say it's a barometer of body weight not atmospheric conditions!hottoddy wrote:yet the barometer (or whatever it is) suggests it's the same view?

NZ manufacture, late '60s or '70s. The formica is always a giveaway but NZ went decimal in 1967, while Aust was a year earlier. They also call these Flap Ball sometimes.

Re: Domino / Lucky Dice / Le Juge de Paix
Marco, I've seen a number of these in collections particularly in the US and have had the chance to buy quite a few over the years, but never have. Probably seen at least 15 examples of major conversions by UK operators into Roll out the Barrel, Soccer themed versions, most with new streamlined case...

Re: Seven mysteries of the Saxony allwin
Mr PM, I restored a totally original Reserve Ball machine many years ago and had figured out that flap quite quickly at the time, but it's been a while since then! I seem to remember that it was there to stop you playing a ball until you'd done something first like payout? I've only ever found one R...

Don't suppose anybody recognises those cast iron legs and has a set that have been recycled for use on something else? Haha, worth a try. Another job to add to my project list......
