Re: Gold Mine - very long shot
So maybe I’ve jumped the gun here. After the post from tallstory I did a bit of Googling…. The first ribbon cable was invented in 1956 and the first commercially produced IC in 1961! Both much earlier than I thought. I always associated early ICs with the mid 70s when they were the big new thing whe...

Universal Products Inc. Gold Mine - very long shot
I’ve just grabbed one of these Gold Mine trade stimulators from the US. Looked fun and couldn’t resist but won’t receive it for a couple of weeks. I can see very little info about it online: a couple of pics, a flyer and and the fact it was made in 1965 by Universal Products Inc. (UPI). The electric...

Re: Bally
I’ve found a manual schematic. Not sure this is for the right model but might give some clues. Not great ones, you’ll need to trace the wire back to see where it came from first. Happy to help with any questions once you’ve dug a bit further. Bally Slot Machines (bandit) Manual No. 2200 It’s pretty ...

Re: Bally
Never done one of these before. EM pinball machines and other EM amusement stuff is usually my main thing but would have been happy to take a look. Sadly I’m in Newcastle on Tyne which prob means it’s out the question unless you happen to travel up here on business or something.

Groetchen Twenty One strip down
Topuc moved & merged - Site Admin. I've had one of these sat around for a couple of years and finally getting around to smartening it up a bit. It works fine, but needs painting. The front cover will come off fine but I'd ideally like to get the main lever and plate off the side too for paintin...

Re: Oak Manufacturing Co. Premiere Card/Gum & similar vendors
After posting I actually found some images of fortune predictions, converted them to text and have just printed and cut 100 of them. All working nicely now. Less of a job than I thought. I didn’t consider getting an AI tool to do it though. Amazing!

Re: Oak Manufacturing Co. Premiere Card/Gum & similar vendors
Thanks to all your help on this one. Here’s how it turned out…. B92FCC4B-F5C7-40BB-B80A-01CAF8098230.jpeg I’m waiting on some new Perspex to replace the scratched windows and new locks. I had to drill the old ones but found out there are std gum ball machine locks so a couple on their way from the U...

Re: Stripper not working (ooo err!)
Thanks for all the suggestions. Helpful stuff. Having left the stripper on for about 6 hours some parts have started to soften. I’ve scraped what I can and re applied. I’ll pop some more on later and leave it overnight and see how it looks in the morning. Failing that, I’ll investigate the ideas giv...

Paint stripping
Topic moved - Site Admin. Trying to remove the paint from metal on a 50s vendor. Not sure what paint it is but guessing the original spray paint. My B&Q paint stripper does absolutely nothing to it. Covered it, left an hour. No softening, no impact whatsoever. Can anyone suggest a stripper/meth...

Re: Oak Manufacturing Co. Premiere Card/Gum & similar vendors
I managed to strip the machine into its parts. Found a 10 centime coin inside and the mech works on these so that puzzle is solved. The machine had some hand cut Disney postcards in the windows by F. Nugeron. I’m guessing the operator popped these in and put some Disney trading cards in. I can’t tra...

Bolts
Topic moved & merged - Site Admin. Back again! I want to replace these bolts from the oak premier vendor with some with less rust and more shine! They appear to be 2BA (or very similar) about 5/8 inch long. However I’m struggling to find any with a plain domed head. I could possible go with an ...
