Supermatic 5 reeler bandit! most unusual bandit ever?

This has to be the weirdest, most unusual bandit made. According to the splendid book Arcades and Slot Machines , this was made in 1934 by Brenner. Has anyone seen one work and can you describe the action? I am trying to get this one to function - and does anyone know any history of Supermatic? This...

hi mark, a 25c machine will operate on an old 5p/ 1/- quite happily, the present 10p usually works ok, these are slightly bigger and sometimes you need to open the coin entry slightly

Yes, I have never seen one with a live jackpot, they have always been false ones. They used any old mech that was handy. I have seen them with Jennings and Watling mechs.

The castings on the Black Beauty are all Bollands - nothing remains of the Mills, also the mechanisms usually used are Poinsettia type mechs, or earlier, therefore they're pre jackpot or in the case of the Poinsettia a differing release.

Hi, is this it? They are either made by Ruffler and Walker or supplied by them, they could also be made by Kraft.

Parkers were a large manufacturer. I can't see them recycling Bryans machines. If you look at the chrome surround it is different - there is no aperture for the Elevens sign. Also have you noticed the clown graphic, looking a bit like a Pilwin?

Parkers, Bryans 11s lookalike

Just seen this on ebay, 290102805334, Parkers Eleven Win. The question is, which came first, Bryans or Parkers? Who copied who?

you are right, this is a typical 1930s german machine ,probably by j&m, updated by olly whales in the 40/50s. it would have been a felt back and probably a token payout. still a nice machine

Re Philip Shefras? allwins

The mech was the same as yours. They seem to be better made than the OW. The whole mech is well engineered, particularly the payout, suggesting they made quite a few, or intended to.

Re Philip Shefras? allwins

Yours are definitely not OW - I have seen a few from your manufacturer but they have all been in plywood cases. I suspect yours has been put in an oak cabinet to make it look more attractive - there were a lot of oak Parkers' cases around a few years ago that would fit this machine. I have added a c...

Philip Shefras? allwins

These are not made by Olly Whales - I don't know who made them, but there are a few variations. I will attach a pic of an O.W. Fruit Polo.

I put the wrong picture on, then tried to edit it, then got both! Still it gives you an idea of what Olly Whales should look like.

Re: Fortune teller TELEFORTUNE

Hi, I used to have 2 of these. Interestingly, the big red light is from the back of a Morris Minor. You may also recognise the dials - they are headlamp surrounds and a tax disc holder! They also used a Dansette record player slightly modified so it would only play one track from the record.

Re: Circle Skill and variants

There was one in Hunt's last auction in excellent condition, I have seen several versions of these, a 3 and 4 cup winner, also a profit sharer. The mechs are quite complex, more bits than an allwin. They are pre-war, not that rare. I think the vending version is the most common.
Cheers, Dave.

I heard that when Walker took it over, anything left was taken down the tip accompanied with secruity to make sure it ended there. This was told to me by one of the guards as I was buying a Roman Head and an Extraordinary off him. :D

hi, i would not rip the formica off the cabinet, this could be original, it was also put on to hide cheap materials like plywood of fibreboard, just look at the edge of the sides were the formica does not cover to see what you have, if its oak then rip away

Payramid

I always thought the Payramid with the top entry casting had a side opening case. If this statement is correct, then the case is wrong, but I am not a Bryans fanatic, so don't quote me :)
