Re: Reel strip identification

My memory is not infallible but most of the reel strips would look like this: ORANGE CHERRY BELL MELON PLUM LEMON PLUM CHERRY PLUM CHERRY 7 ON ORANGE LEMON PLUM CHERRY ORANGE ORANGE BELL LEMON 7 ON LEMON PLUM BELL PLUM BELL MELON ORANGE CHERRY BELL CHERRY ORANGE PLUM BAR CHERRY LEMON PLUM MELON BELL...

Re: Sega Progressive Star coin jam

If you have the stars combined on the reel tapes (lemon - orange - bar) it is the "CS" (combined star) setup. If you have the stars printed individually on the reels it is the "IS" (independent star) setup with a rings around each star. The stars on mine pay another jackpot. I fo...

Re: Help make my reel spin faster

Hi, Mark. I bought a Sega jackpot mech from you in August 2013 and it is working perfectly. I hope you have sorted out your reel problems by now. One thing I suspected was the reel brakes might have been screwed down too much. That adjustment is the easiest.
Good luck. 😃

Bear in mind that the wiring on these machines could be 50 to 55 years old and it might be a choice between LEDs, fuses blowing, or something catching fire! :-(

Good to see someone else doesn't like the vertical stripe!
The stripe went out of fashion around 1963. My Progressive Star (August 1963) looks similar to your repainted case. My case also needs a revamp. Don't store slot machines for more than a month in the bathroom!

Re: Sega Progressive Star Missing Meter and Linkages

The meter was taken out of use because it could not pay 100 coins plus the meter reading. The gaming laws dictated that all awards must be paid by the machine. Prior to that, you could claim it from the bar staff and the meter would be set to zero. The meter linkage was missing on mine but I fitted ...

The mind boggles OP......dancing to Simon Says whilst having sex !!! It would only take a few minor changes to the lyrics !OMFG! The first time I heard the song was indeed in 1968 at the Station Café opposite the rail station in Eastleigh. I was 16 years old and played a Bally Gold Award (2 pulls f...

Re: From The German .....

I have seen similar drivel appear on the TV subtitles. English is about 90% accurate, French is about 80% accurate but Welsh and German don't make much sense. Quite often the subtitles state: "They speak in their own language" or if you are lucky, you will see: "Translation" fol...

I copied the images above and zoomed them up to see the small details but there was no rear view. Unfortunately, the innards look different in several places so there must have been several improvements made in the post war years.

Re: Coronavirus invades our hobby!

Don't panic! I remember panic buying in 1974 when inflation was rising like a rocket. Some shop keepers would jack their prices up on certain groceries and tell the customers that "there's a shortage" and the next thing that happened would be an avalanche of shoppers clearing the shelves....

Re: How many cherries?

Maybe I should have said "how many coins" are paid according to the cherries rather than "how many cherries" according to the coins paid out. Many machines had their awards "adjusted" and one way of finding out the original winning combinations would be to examine the ...

Re: How many cherries?

If you were able to look at the reel tapes, it would usually give the game away.

On the 1st reel:
2 cherries = pay 3 coins. 3 cherries = pay 2 coins.
About 5 cherries = pays nothing unless the 2nd reel is also a cherry.

On the 2nd reel:
5 or 6 cherries = pays 5 or 4 coins respectively.

I just found an old piece of aluminium at my work and remembered my machine needed the window surround. It’s a bit rough yet but looks much better for the moment till I will find an original. Lately there were not so many posts over here, so I think I need to contribute. Greetings. Your machine loo...

Re: Mills Romanhead started to not pay out

Sorry, can't paste an image from a PDF but I shall try and clarify. The adjustment is on the sliding link between the clock and the arm that releases the payout fingers. Owing to the age difference between the Jewel/High Top and the Roman Head, there might be some minor differences.

This appeared briefly a week ago, a working full size model for a vintage sort of slot machine. Re: Mills Romanhead started to not pay out

Clunks 1,2 and 3 rely on the slide bar moved by the clock. Clunk 4 is the support arm holding the V Fingers back, again operated by the clock. Clunk 5 again is the same slide bar 1, 2 and 3 rely on when it releases the slide bundle. The only way I can see to increase the time gap between 4 and 5 is...

Re: How many cherries?

Hello Badpenny. I may have missed something here but I assumed the law permitting operation of gaming machines came into force in January 1961. As for the currency query, the UK maximum win was 12 pennies cash or 5 shillings in kind. I was indeed implying that the fairground sharks were cutting dow...
