Re: Sparing a thought for the amusement arcade owners
Is Swallow amusements the little one on Shanklin seafront, to the left of the cliff railway? I went there a few years back and played some great Bally four reelers, a Tooty Fruity and some old Brencos too. What a shame. Is there a link to the property anywhere with details, do they own the building ...

Re: Sparing a thought for the amusement arcade owners
With the paranoia surrounding handling money, paranoia in general where your local shops, Boots, Tesco etc. weren't taking any cash, only cards, I think for many the seed that handling coins/cash is damaging has been sown. I actually had to use a tenner this morning in Boots to pay for something - t...

Sparing a thought for the amusement arcade owners
In these difficult times of this god awful virus I'm really concerned about some of the small amusements out there who were just about turning a living running vintage coin ops in their arcades. I'm particularly worried about my local one in Beach Road Pagham. It was run by Dean and Joe and they've ...

Re: Lucky Horseshoe bonus feature payout blocked ???
That's good then. I got a sparky mate who doesn't know a thing about bandits but he's done me a good turn many times tracing circuits and working it all out. Good luck with it all and be sure to post the pics when you get it all refurbished.

Re: Lucky Horseshoe bonus feature payout blocked ???
Clean up all the corrosion, get your spring and see if anything occurs? Be careful of the invisible blue stuff stuff that can make you go ouch; always wary of these electrical add-ons. Do you know a sparky who can run an electrical test over it to help you out?

Wow, you did it. Hats off to you as I was certainly pessimistic that anybody would ship it from here. Well done.

On top of the list, check your coin stock too. Anything bent, worn too thin or dirty can prevent slides from releasing, in your case its the upper ones. I always head straight to the coin tube, take it off and for me 95% of time its an upturned or crap coin. 5% of the time the upper slide plate bolt...

Re: Jennings Governor jackpot
Well that's good as it's all working as it should. Fill the pot up manually about 3/4 full to start off with then watch the fascination of coins popping in there from the coin tube and then crashing into the cash box. I've lined my cashboxes with 1cm of cut foam to deaden the clatter as my wife gets...

Re: Jennings Governor jackpot
I haven't owned one of these so can't help with whether your jackpot is aligned correctly. I'd assume if you actuate the mech and line up the jackpot symbols you will know whether the jackpot releases the coins. Then actuate the mech again to see if the jackpot mechanism closes, and if there is a se...

Re: Tin Pan Alley
I remember vividly playing the exact machine that coppinpr has kindly posted an image of. Specifically it was in the Harrison's chain of arcades on Bognor Regis seafront next to Jones Garage. It was a dull machine to play as you could only really win 2 coins at a time. This being reliant on (as they...

Unfortunately one of those themes that I certainly wouldn't feel comfortable with sitting in my home. I guess one could have had a go at changing the back image.

Well so far I've found the exact colour match on an old payphone. Maybe something like this could have been bolted to the side?!?!

Re: Stamp vending machine that doesn't vend stamps?
It's a rather nice thing. My 1d old play bandit and 6d bandit sit next to each other and this would be rather nice for change to swap between the two; surely a nice addition to a collection.

Re: Bally/Greaves Firebell bandit
It looks very professionally done; you might get yourself a job with Libertygames as they do this type of revamp. I have an old Aristocrat Arcadian mk1 awaiting a bit of welding on a broken part. The reel strips are worn out, it all looks rather tired and not really going to realize value I put into...

Re: Bally Gold Award
Well done mate, brilliant. That actually appears to be an old 6d coin for three plays machine. The 1 shilling award would pay 2 coins. Does it pay 2 coins or 5? (2 X 6d coin being a shilling). The five coin payout was introduced when they were converted to 1p for 1 play. If its still accepting 6d co...

Re: Bally Gold Award
I didn't sell them, I actually swapped them at an amusement arcade in West Sussex where Ballys are still in use (but most failing). One of the machines is still active and out of all the Gold Award machines they were running, it's the last one standing. When the owner passed away, his son who is sti...

Re: Bally Gold Award
I have owned a couple of Ballys before but they were working machines which I moved on fairly quickly and traded for all mechanical bandits. I know on this forum there are some Bally enthusiasts so be patient and I'm sure somebody will pop by soon and help you; be careful with these when fettling as...

Re: Bally gold award
On accepting a coin, does the handle pull and the reels spin etc? I'm assuming your Gold Award is a 1p or 2p play as many were converted from original 6d play. Just thinking, it might be something as simple as coin differences of the pre-1992 coins being copper and thereafter steel and the slug/magn...

I never knew the mechanical Aristos of this age had a hold and draw feature. Thanks for sharing.
