Re: Smile, say Cheese
On the subject of photobooths, does anyone know much about them mechanics wise? I’ve recently been asked to get a model 14 photo booth working for someone. Managed to get a circuit diagram which looks pretty simple compared to the pinball machines I usually work on, but there’s obviously a lot of me...

Re: slot machine or pinball, which to buy?
There's also at least one with a slot machine in the playfield. Can’t remember the name sadly!

Re: Wallbox jukebox conversion
It’s fairly simple with basic electronics understanding. I managed to have a voltage drop down board explode on me but I think that was the board’s fault rather than mine The second was fine!special when lit wrote: ↑Fri Jun 17, 2022 3:06 pm Brilliant. Got a few 50's wallboxes myself, & always wanted to have a go at doing that.

Re: Wallbox jukebox conversion
Yes I’ve been offered a mid seventies slimline style one too. Problem is this was one of the first electronic ones, so a different skill set needed if it’s bust. I’m happier generally fixing the em gear.

Wallbox jukebox conversion
This is a new divergence for me, which might be of interest to some. I picked up this '50s Seeburg wallbox. The most beautiful remote control ever. For those not in the know as I wasn’t until recently, these sat on the diner tables and were connected to the main jukebox elsewhere in the room. They a...

Thanks. Tracks look similar but the win cups look more like the other two posted. Interesting puzzle!

Thanks for the offer. I think I may have a cup myself without surround but need to check. Let you know if needed. Cheers.

Thanks. I'll definitely come back with some internal pics once open. Might be a few weeks though as it’s now buried in the ‘pending’ pile!

Re: Latest find
Ha ha. Yes I got lucky. The first 23 have all gone their way now. I restored about half and sold the others on as projects for others to enjoy as I was tight for space. I’ve only kept one in the end due to lack of space. I fancy restoring these ones but I need to find a time window….! I have had my ...

Re: Latest find
...the player's penny (or possibly ha'penny) is the projectile, rather than a ball bearing. A relatively rare machine, and certainly worth restoring, in my view. Ahhhhh interesting. I haven’t opened it yet so hadn’t noticed the difference but that makes sense now. Looking at the width of the win sl...

Some may remember a find of quite a few allwins I made a couple of years ago. I’ve just picked up five more from the same source. 2 wonders, 2 whales and (I think) a bmco. All in a suitable state of disrepair but mostly there although some nasty old woodworm in a couple of playfields. I just need to...

Re: Japanese barber pole
Well it’s done! After stripping back the cloth on the coil I manage to expose a broken wire so connected new wires and re wrapped with cloth and varnished. I was wondering about the voltage thing as I found a 240 v bulb in it so wondered if it had previously been converted. I used a variac to gradua...

Re: Lock picking
Thanks for the suggestions. It’s open! Managed to open it after dousing with penetrating oil. Not sure there was much finesse to it but after poking a prodding for a while with a bent lock pick it opened. The oil definitely made a difference as I suspect there was a bit of rust around. Everything el...

Re: Japanese barber pole
Why not use a transformer to produce US 120V from our mains voltage? It would be a lot easier to do it this way, and you keep it in original condition. I could do that. But currently the coil is open circuit. I need to peel some of the wrapping off to see if there is an obvious break near the surfa...

Re: Japanese barber pole
Yes I sort of was guessing that. However, the bit about rewinding for a different voltage might be useful in my case.
