Coco's Clown
Whilst poking around in the museum building at this years Strumpshaw Steam Rally I found this jolly fellow.
It has a cash box so was originally a penny in the slot machine that has been converted to sensor operation. Simple in operation the clown only bobs up and down and laughs. A wire from each ear runs up through the top of the cabinet to an eccentric mechanism in the motor box behind the sign and the mouth I assume is anchored to the floor of the cabinet so giving the impression the the mouth is opening and closing as the head moves up and down. It has been very nicely made / restored.
I could find no makers plate but according the the attached label it stood in the entrance to Coco's Nightclub in Norwich in the 1980's.
