Stevenson and Lovett Fireworks
Re: Fireworks Allwin
I have not been collecting for long in fact only two years, so I guess would not have come across one of these in that time. What is confusing me though is Melright's rarity rating and the estimated value on these machines. He puts this at a level 4, in the same league as Bran Tubs, which I know Jingle you try to sell a couple recently, tick tocks, u-wins, gap wins and retreeva's. Now all of these I have seen for sale either at auctions, on melrights site or ebay a number of times.......so has Melright got this wrong as most of the values for other machines he states are not far from what they sell for.jingle wrote:Tree Frog,
I am 99% sure you have never seen a Bryans Rockets on eBay UK this side of the Millennium.
I think there are only 6 known lad, so it must have been something else.
If you do see a Bryans Rockets and it's cheap, buy it quick
because they are very rare: $$$$$$$$$$ and more $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ mate
I am only living in hope as I quite like the look of these, but as Jingle says if only 6 were made then then this will be an unlikely
Re: Fireworks Allwin
no tree frog
i only know of 6 mate
not 6 made
coin op recons he knows were theres a bundle too
so am wrong ,,,
but i recon 3000 wont buy one
and i have only ever seen one for sale outside the one i bought
and that was on usa ebay
and it was snatched by a uk dealer for under 3000
before the auction even started
i think melrights way out on some of the bryans price's
he has tricklers for 1500
thats why the guy who advertised 2 last year for 1500 each
got bombarded by every bryans dealer in the uk
i evan rang him from spain
they were gone within hours
he was told there 4 grand
each and he cocked up
he was very upset with the bryans site
coz he went off the price estimated
plus there old prices on that site
some machines have gone mad
some stable
but at the same time you can only get
what someone wants to pay
anyone want a brantub
see me
the clogging the lock up

Re: Fireworks Allwin
Well, I'll admit its a small bundle! As to prices..if it hadn't been for one other bidder, I'd have gotten mine for around the £680 mark...alas, there was an underbidder, so it wasn't around the £680 mark Regarding the Tricklers, I guess the seller inherited them off his dad, who in turn paid around £70 each for them...and had profits out of them in service, so he can't really grumble that he got £3,000 for them . He could equally have inherited his dad's old radio from the 30's and got £20 for it. I think Melvyn has a different view on prices to myself; I always thought 'if someone sees this site when they sell a Trickler, someone's gonna have a deal'...and I was right! I think Rippler's are undervalued too. Admittedly not for every one, but if you take out the repro's which keep appearing, it's a pretty rare machine. On another note, why are you selling the Bran Tub when you are complaining that there are no floor standing machines about??jingle wrote:no tree frog

Re: Fireworks Allwin
I was saying that I got a Bryans Rockets, not the fireworks in the auction, and I would have got it in the auction it was in for £680, but there was one other bideder who took me up to the end price. I don't know where there are oodles of Rockets, but I know of one or two that I'm guess you don't and so that means that the numbers sort of creep up a little. Not doing drugs, can't find any...you got them??
Re: Fireworks Allwin
not saying
coz i think your
der derr der derr der derr
a bizzy as we call them in liverpool ,,
as for the firework allwin
that was a good price for that machine
it was one of mine
but had been tidied up
and it looked very well
i wasnt there at the auction of it
i left after a bit
because of
prior arrangements
so i didnt see the price
but heard it made 860
well it just shows
if you can get them working and looking good
there is plenty of profit in machines
because i sold that for well under half the final price
so there we have it,,
i must be cheap to buy off
moral of the story
feed the kids 1st
collect machines 2nd

I was also sent to the vets at an early age to stop the spread of little slotalot’s, but what about the grandchildren? We got back from the Coventry auction to find this waiting for us, and although it’s not mine it will no doubt eat up a quite a few of my pennies over the coming years.Badpenny wrote:The moral of my story was have your knackers clopped when you're 24 then you don't have to worry about feeding children
Very pleased to announce the arrival of our 3rd grandchild, Holly Louise. Born December 1st 2010.

I'm always puzzled that they come complete with a name ..... is it written on a tag tied to the toe or something?

Re: Stevenson & Lovett fireworks allwin help please.
Here you go.
Without and with cig payout, cobwebs and broken connections. Highlight any close-ups you need.
Insert penny to release five balls. Turn knob on left to drop ball to hammer and fire with trigger in the usual fashion, aiming for the highest score in the middle of the gallery (3000, 3000, 6000, 9000, 6000, 3000, 3000). Scores are totted-up on the star lights above: 36,000 to win your coin back, 42,000 for a cigarette. The winning score may be adjustable and of course the number of balls could be altered.

Nice machine, is this your one that you have restored, if so, did you rewire the machine as I haven't dared to plug mine in looking at the ancient wiring...

Hi,
Thanks, and yes this is my 'Fireworks' allwin. I restored most of the mechanical side to this game myself, but as you say 'had not dared to plug in due to ancient wiring'.
A friend of mine is a genius with these things and he sorted the electrical problems for me along with some teething mechanical errors I could not fathom myself.
I am super grateful to him for his help on this project.

Re: Stevenson & Lovett fireworks allwin help please.
Very interesting, often wondered exactly how these machines worked.
Re: Stevenson & Lovett fireworks allwin help please.
Nobby Pennytoy, it would great if you had time to take a picture of the finished electrics.
How much did your friend replace in terms of wiring or other components?

Hi
I was extremely lucky in that my 'Fireworks' allwin was complete, but did need checking over by my expert friend.
He started off by replacing the mains power cable to the transformer and changed the failed lights. Then he cleaned all the dirty contacts and fixed those that weren't working correctly. He meticulously checked all other original wiring and the major components which were all operational and capable of working safely.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING
Please see the internal view of my working 'Fireworks' allwin.
