Mutoscope Travelling Crane Project
Mutoscope Travelling Crane Project
Here are some pictures of a Mutoscope Electric Travelling Crane I started to restore this week. It was used on Southwold Pier for many years.
Re: Mutoscope Travelling Crane Project
I got this crane out of the shed Sunday afternoon 13/09/09. I already had the top red glass remade and all the metal parts are bare rubbed down and primed for spraying. The metal feet have been nickel plated as this is an early crane and would not have been chromed. I will add more pictures tomorrow. One thing stopping me is the need to have the motor rewound. Does anyone have a Dumore motor spare?
Bye for now.

What a nice old crane - a relic of the days when people had proper respect for engineering (harrumph) and kids would have been fascinated by real, you know, working things instead of Amy Winehouse videos. What a Herculanean labour to restore it, though. I'm impressed. I can't wait to see the finished work.

Hello everyone,
Here are the latest pictures of my crane project.
I had it sprayed brown. Was that a good idea?
Hope you like it.

Hi Dower , Hey it's your crane, you can paint it any colour you want..... I think it looks quite smart in brown .... looks like you are well on the way to finishing it, did you get the motor sorted yet? Regards Stuart.
