Blackpool Auction

Post by jingle »

Go back about 6 years...
and on this site
a load of machines appeared
from Blackpool
that should have been coming up
for auction later that year.

All the machines were pictured on here
and I cannot find them at all :smash:

Can anyone point me to them?
And I will tell you a secret. :!:

well i can now tell you all
i was at an antique fair with a load of
30s pinballs i picked up last year

some guy comes over ask's the price for all 5
we agrees on a price and starts chatting

these are better than the load i have just paid 25 grand for he says
o ye were were they from i said

blackpool he answers some big machines
i know nothing about ,well my ears pricked
does one of them have 4 arms in and they grab prizes

yes thats right there is one of them,
wow i said ,how did you get hold of them
i know all about them and they were ment to be auctioned 5 years or so ago
i said,,o i know amanda the owner of blackpool

and she mentioned them to me last week and
i bought them he says ,,well ok are they for sale i said

they are he says but i am using them for a theme in an furniture exhibition
in paris ,in january ,,he ask's would you mind coming and having a look and telling me
all about them

yes defo i said
so we exchanged numbers
and that was that

6 weeks later i get the call,,
the machines are in a warehouse in bury
can we meet there,,
he lived in london and was getting the train there
i said i will pick you up from the station ,,not missing this one i thought

so picks him up from stockport
and off we go

we turns up at some warehouse
rammed with boxes of furniture
and in the corner were a row of vintage penny arcade machine

egyptians tomb model
the air wardens dream [dennison
and the canova drunkards dream

the hawtins hand grab
a 3 sided conveyor
cycle race and a load of other lower end
stuff

my toes were wiggling in my boots

so i goes over with him what they are and
who made them and this that the other

can i buy them when they get back from france
yep he says ,there definitely coming back after the exhibition
so you will be first

2 weeks later when the exhibition finished i was
on the phone
hello martin are the machines back yet

oh bob he says they were fitting over them in france
i sold them all ,,,,,shit did you sell the all
coz there were 21 in all

o no we could not get them all on the trailor

so we left 4 behind,,which ones were they i said

the 1 with the hands he says ,and the conveyor one ,yeyeyeye am saying
and the what else ,,2 old mutoscope too [that were wrecked anyway ]

the models were gone and i nearly cried

are the hands machine for sale i said and the conveyor

yes come to the warehouse and we can have a deal

i covered 45 miles in about 9 minutes

so i got them ,,the conveyor is mint 3 side too,,the hawtins clutching hand needs restoring
but hay what rare pieces
