American, British, French or German? We want to know about it.

Only allowed to post 10, so here's some more that I think or know are Australian. The Elevator in the last lot is an Australian copy of Conveyor. These are all the ones that I think or know are Australian.

Here's ones that may be Australian, that I've never seen anywhere else if other forumites know these I'd be keen to kno. Some are, dare I say it, too good to be Australian like Stars but I have never seen them anywhere else.

Heres' the last lot. I haven't included ones with laminex/Formica fronts which I am sure are New Zealand that you see in Australia Like Flipball and Skillflip.
There is one machine that really intrigues me in the last lot I post that I accidentally posted two pictures of. It actually looks British but I've never come across another one. Anyone come across them before?

A lot look like copies of British machines

viewtopic.php?f=10&t=952

Or some might even be quite rare British machines (albeit tweaked a little?)

Quite a collection if you owned them all?

These are not machines that I have owned but ones that I've come across in Australia and photographed. Thanks for the information on these two. I should have remembered seeing these on the forum, but getting a bit long in the tooth and memory is not what it was.

That BMCO Moon and Stars Penny shoot is the same one I bought out of NZ a few years ago Bob. And I seem to remember him saying something about it having come from Aust? Though someone stripped it and stained a darker colour.

No 36, The Three Sixes, no 39, The Moon and Stars and no 41, the Airplane theme allwin are surely B.M. Co./Bollands. 32 looks like it started life in Germany as Das Henkeltöpfchen, 33 may have originally been an Edgerton Double Loop and 38 is a Rockets by another name. I assume most of the others are from down under. What a fascinating selection of unfamiliar machines. The triggers and coin payout receptacles in particular mark them out as aliens, but style and design-wise, they have more in common with British slots (even built for the same size coin), than French or German wall machines. Thanks, Bob for posting them.

Thanks for all the photos Bob, have seen them over the years but forgotten most. And how cool is the basic showmans paint, they really liked a simple two tone. Not quite up to the standards of the British showmen's painters.

NZ manufacture, late '60s or '70s. The formica is always a giveaway but NZ went decimal in 1967, while Aust was a year earlier. They also call these Flap Ball sometimes.

BMCo never cease to amaze me, they were so prolific in allwin production/design. The 'moon and stars' case is the same as their very early 'all winners' machine with its automatic penny return, although the moon/stars machine has the penny return cup in the same position as another BMCo auto penny return: The Wizard - I wonder if the moon/stars allwin has the same mech as the Wizard?

The other machine that intrigues me is the pink allwin. This is confusing as it has all the hallmarks of the BMCo 'coin repeat wall machine' which had an automatic payout mechanism of ingenious design, but there is a manual payout knob which suggests the auto mech has been replaced by a traditional allwin mech (I have seen this done before to these coin repeat machines). The playfield is a curious combination of BMCo allwin types: the 'Playball' with its straight gallery and the 'Airplane/Flyer' with it aircraft cups and propeller motif, and with the 2 rows of inclined pins leading to the aircraft cups it is reminiscent of the 'Cresta Run' 2 cup and pins version.

Argee, the Moon and Stars has no mech to say of, just some chutes for a simple coin loss to the cashbox or win straight back to you. I spent some time on this one trying to get it firing properly, as someone had converted it from Pennies to Half-Pennies. Put it back but still not quite right and is still awaiting the time to look at it again.

Interesting, have you seen others like this Gameswat that appear to be BMCo?

The most common allwin in New Zealand that I can remember (70s/80s) was this one —

There were probably others but the 5c machine above was by far the one you were likely to see in fish & chip shops and arcades.

I think that this machine in Australia as posted by Bob earlier in the topic is in fact an unusual Allwin manufactured by Handan-Ni / London Automatic Machine Co. The cabinet style and square plate on the front of the machine is the exactly same as used by Handan-Ni on games like Domino. And the Penny return chute looks almost the same. The blank square plate as seen on the recently sold Domino machine in New Zealand was used to cover a hole left after the original token release mechanism was removed, which I believe was part of a revamp by the factory. My guess is that this allwin had the same token release as many of the other Handan-Ni games that was later removed by the factory for some reason, possibly law changes to make them totally non gambling?

I might know where this machine is. Might have to make some enquiries and see if I can own it.
