Thanks for your detailed help. I'm learning lots. Lots to follow through. Meanwhile, yes I did remove the orange wire that leads directly to the bell to help take the readings.

I'm wondering if the thermal device is only for a short bell ring, would it not working stop the machine activating payout? The machine does not automatically trigger the coin payout mechanism at the moment.

Yes - if the thermal contact doesn't open, the payout relay will never operate because it's shorted out.

Forgot to post this version that sold at auctions earlier in the week for £240 " 3 Bells"

This looks to possibly be a replacement glass of other variations rather than original, but it looks high quality and I wonder if this was either a refurb vendor model or someone offering replacement glasses.....

Interesting the same said machine is on eBay and the seller seems to state it has been in their dad's shed for years......mmmm odd as it sold at auction 4 weeks ago. Not sure I can be bothered to enquire how. I see why it is being sold on. Anyone guess what's missing.....

Still wonder if this is a real deal model as the silkscreen glass looks good and period.

Haha - but even when you fit the new transformer it probably still won't work. I for one won't be going down that road again.

Hi,
I've just bought this machine from the person who bought it off Ebay on Friday. I haven't seen it in the flesh yet but I will pick it up this week. I can't understand the prices yet as I have bought it for £160. I'll report on condition and front glass when I pick it up. '!'

Finally got the machine home and it looks almost original particularly the front glass and the uni selectors seems good. No makers name but very much in the style Electrodart /Jamesons. Leaf switches only need a clean. However the bottom of the cabinet is damaged on the underside but is a fairly practical repair. Well worth the money compared to the silly prices some machines are making these days.
I am on the lookout for a transformer if anyone has one kicking about please !!THUMBSX2!!

This is a bit of a long shot.... I have an ElectroDart, which seems fully working apart from the two delay heater coils.

1. Does anyone have any spare / replacement delay heater coils they would be willing to part with?
2. Is there anyone in the UK who might be willing to take a look at my machine? Ideally not too far from Essex or Oxford way.

I'd like to get it working as part of an exhibit of games that led to making gaming accessible for disabled people. I'm considering making it remote control accessible too, so that people can operate one for the first time, using the likes of head-switches. For people who don't have the physical strength or ability to reach the conventional push-button.

Any help much appreciated. Have tried but I'm hitting a wall in getting it to that last elusive stage of fully working.

Is this machine very common? I've not seen it before, I assume it's a Jamieson.

Not very common for sure, but we've seen at least a couple here.

Revisiting the '3 Bells' which TF posted, there's another one here, together with speculation about its possible Shefras origin.

Thanks, that's quite an interesting snippet on my 3 Bells. I haven't touched it yet as I'm as always on with another machine at the moment, but in any case I can't source a transformer for it yet. !THUMBS! Has anyone got a transformer by any chance? :dammit:

A pinball expert I met last week suggested the company Brownings Electrics in Barking as a place that might be able to wire-wind custom items. I'm hoping a possible place that might be able to help with the bi-metallic switches:

http://www.browningselectric.co.uk/contact-us/

If I have any joy, I'll post it here.

If you can't get the original thermal-type delay, you could use a Time Delay Relay from here:

Ebay seller " 365bestseller ".

Search for 'Time Delay Relay'. They are made in Japan, and the timing is variable. They come in numerous coil voltages and delay ranges. I've used loads of them.
Same seller has a good selection of other relays and suchlike.

I’ve read most of the posts on these machines and it brought back many memories. These machines were produced by my Grandfathers company - Jamieson Automatics and i spent many of my childhood days “playing” in the workshops and trying out my “fixing” skills !!!
I would love to get one of these machines to keep in Jamieson family to pass onto my children - anyone point me in the right direction

Cheers Thomas

Hello Thomas and welcome. Good to have family ties to a manufacturer on this site and would be wonderful to get information on the company. I know one of our collector colleagues who had done research in the past had linked up with a Ian Jamieson’s who shared information and pictures for his site, now run by Badpenny and Coppin http://www.penny-arcade.info/the-jamissons-collection

A period of machine I love and many others, although electricity and me don’t mix :zapa: I should think many collectors here have or had at least one Jamieson’s machine in their collection, I have around 8 mainly the wall cabinet types like Rotopool. Problem is most don’t work or partially work.....although I did get an Easy Push as mentioned recently which is now proudly being shown..

Do you know what type of machine you are after

Welcome Thomas. As Treefrog says, it's always great to hear from someone with direct memories and connections to the industry. I spoke to Ian many years ago and he provided useful information about Arthur's company when I was compiling a survey of Portable Penny Pushers. Jamieson machines turn up quite frequently in the auctions and I remember a time when they were very cheap to acquire. Prices have crept up over the last decade with a Rotolite making a record £780 in 2016. If you keep your eye on the auctions, and are prepared to bide your time, it should be possible to find them for a lot less.

Wow - that looks a bit of a mess - someone has bid on it now so must fancy a challenge resoring it - not sure it’s one for me - is this the typical resto condition/price as not come across one before?

Thanks for the link.
