Bottom of the Slots - The Hall of Shame

American, British, French or German? We want to know about it.

Bottom of the Slots - The Hall of Shame

Post by john t peterson »

Those Top of the Slots certainly are gorgeous machines, one and all. How about equal time for the less attractive? Everyone wants to date Cinderella but what about the Stepsisters? They have feelings too! I propose an airing of the " Six pints and counting" games, the ones that you dare take home only after a little liquid courage. To start it off, I offer up one of my personal favorites, the "Peppermint" of my life by O Whales.

From eBay description (my comments in red):
Thankfully VERY RARE AND not VERY OLD hardly CLASSIC ex-ONE ARM BANDIT / FRUIT MACHINE.
IF THIS AUCTION MAKES GOOD MONEY... I'll paint my bottom blue.

THIS IS JUST THE FRONT, ALTHOUGH THE WHOLE MACHINE WAS IN THE DILAPIDATED SHED THE WEATHER HAD GOT TO IT AND THE MAIN FRAME JUST CRUMBLED INTO A RUST PILE... SO WILL NEED CLEANING / LIGHT RESTORING.
Just twigged - this started life as a Sega Continental.

The Machine You All love to Hate !!

Post by coppinpr »

Topic merged - site admin.

Here is my latest creation (and I do mean creation) actually I quite like it. of course, everyone else will hate it and the forum's wise men will be running to their clown catchers hoping that playing a few 'bun' pennies will calm there racing heart beats. It's still waiting for its correct dagger handle which is still being sprayed but when it goes on ebay watch it sell!!

So let's hear from everyone, if this isn't your least favourite machine, what is ??

My least favourite slot machine is the unreliable Durex vendor my Father used.

It looks all right. Of course the purists out there's view around the Golden Nugget origins will always question the authenticity. The question is, what did it look like beforehand, in terms of the great job you have done. Also, early half tops did have this knife type dagger handle. The later ones had the dagger handle you are probably going to put on it... so looks good with this.

Euwwww, take it away, please coppinpr, it's horrible...
Put it with those other repro machines like the dreadful golf-themed ones and the 're-manufactured' War Eagles. Yuck!

The most hideous and almost criminal are those god damn awful Riviera/Aristocrat to Elvis/Marilyn Monroe themed conversions etc.
Well Coppinpr, if you take at this link http://www.libertygames.co.uk/store/one ... et-bandit/ you might rub your hands with glee if you reach what they are selling them for.

Those figural bandits, originally carved of wood by Frank Polk in the early '50s (and sold by Skelly's Character Manufacturing Company of Reno, Nevada), then from the late '70s by Mannie Sanchez of Trinidad, Colorado and later yet, by numerous others, often in fibreglass. I like wood carvings, slot machines and cowboys, but put them all together and you have 18 carat garbage.
Just my opinion !!ESCAPE!!

I think Mr PM's choice wins by a short head over the Golden Nugget ( sorry, out of stock ;-) . I've got some fantastic machines coming ( sometime from somewhere) and they are all available for lots of money. I'll put some library pictures on the website to wet the taste buds and offer free delivery too. !!HAHA!!

I'm guessing it's this one Mills Golden Nugget on ebay

I don't think it's too bad, looks much better now than it did before (if it is the one above).

It is that one. Quite a few part changes. I'm not mad about it, but it was interesting, and it will sell I think.

Winner of the most hideous bandit ever is?

This has just got to be the worst ever. A Powell's Jubilee revamp repainted in one of those weird colours found in the recycling centres. Apologies if it belongs to a forum member.

I agree, this is very nasty, but I was pleased to see it on ebay as it makes the one I'm selling at the moment look almost nice !!THUMBSX2!!

No need to be coy, you know yours is very seductive whilst the Jub. is just an expensive tart.

I'd take yours home to meet mother.

Badpenny
ps .... may I comment on your impeccable manners in only drawing our attention to this after somebody else raised the subject. !SMARTY!
