Bonanza in the US

Post by treefrog »

It's a bonanza in the US, a seller who will be listing over 100 slots, seems to have a haul of Brit machines...The only one he has a reserve on is the Bryans Clock, which is odd as the others are probably worth more.....I have emailed him to see how many other treasures he has and offered a large fortune (I wish) to ship them back home before our American Cousins snipe these......Would be interesting to see what else he has.. !!THUMBSX2!!

S&L SKY JUMP (I Believe it is S&L and correct me if I am wrong, I was playing one in Jerry's arcade only a couple if weeks ago)

Have emailed him and awaiting response... someone else on here mentioned that you can no longer send messages to US ebayers from UK and they are right... took me ages to find a way. Will let you know unless someone else gets a response sooner. Also asked what other Brit machines he/her has @&@

Interesting that there is another very similar machine to the Sky Jump also on the US ebay called the Skill Jump....thing is the playfield is almost identical to the Sky Jump, although with a very different case and cash box and on US coinage....who made these first !PUZZLED!

I don't understand why you're having trouble contacting a seller in the US through Ebay?? I do it all the time, twice today? No problem? Am I doing something different? I just go in through Ebay.com, click on contact seller and write my message, same every time. I do have a very very old ebay account, from the days when there was only Ebay.com and no .co.uk. Perhaps my account comes up as a US account when the system checks??

Groetchen Tool & Mfg. Co. made Skill Jump in 1933, Skill-Test in 1948 and also Steeple Jump. The two British Sky Jump versions by Jay Pee and (possibly) Stevenson & Lovett would seem to be unlicensed copies of the game. There was also a jazzed-up, but essentially identical game called Fire Escape made in 1984 by Innovative Concepts in Entertainment.

I think the Forum clock is right Jimmy.
The Bryans Clock, top left, gets its time from your computer, so if it's wrong, your computer Clock is out.
Top right, you should also be seeing: All times are UTC [ DST ], i.e., the Forum is set to Coordinated Universal Time, Daylight Saving Time (or summer time). This is used for all times and timestamps on the Forum and it flips from Standard to Daylight time automatically.
If it's showing the wrong time there, you need to go to your User Control Panel/Board preferences and set My timezone: to [UTC] Western European Time, Greenwich Mean Time.

Had a response and awaiting confirmation on any other machines available. Looks like shipping maybe possible, but would need to investigate options. UPS will ship, but are expensive, I have worked out an allwin would be around $500 based on a machine around 35kilo, which I assume is about right for an allwin, maybe more for the Clock. If buying more than one at a time, I am sure there would be specialist shipping firms that could deal...

Interesting Skill Jump - wonder if the 'legs' are controlled by the extraordinary long sliding lever on the left. The projecting part of the case at the bottom just doesn't look right to me, also the pedement on top, which looks like an add-on.

$500 shipping seems a large on-cost for one of these machines, the buying price would need to be considerably cheaper than uk to tempt me.

Hi :D , I have managed to find a "crap" photo of the 1948 Skill Test machine, it looks as if the Skill Jump was made between 1933 and the start of ww2 1942, the Groetchen factory was turned over to war work for the period of the war, after the war in 1948 the machine was reintroduced as the Skill Test, but it looks much the same machine !THUMBS!
