Hoopers wall machine on French Ebay

Post by terry »

Nice machine for sale on French ebay at the moment. Don't know it but it looks vaguely BMCOish! Going cheap at the moment.

Re: French Ebay BMCo-style wall machine

Sharp eye there, Terry. Although the game resembles those made by BM Co (particularly the hardware,) this machine was made by Hoopers Automatic Supply Company, LTD, probably in the 1950s. The game below, on the far right, is the Art Deco version of this game.

I wrote an article on this game, "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" which appeared in Issues 66 and 67 of Mechanical Memories Magazine (May and June 2012.) The proof of the pudding is in the articles.

Small world - I removed the layers of contact adhesive film on this french eBayer myself back in 2005. I was trying to figure out if it was a BMCO like I thought it might've been. But decided it was possibly either too messed with, plus had no payout which threw me as to BMCO. It belonged to major collector John Gresham for many years.
