Mills Dice Restoration
Mills Dice Restoration
The worst machines I ever restored are two Mills Dice.
Man, the company must have been crazy to start such a project.
But they worked fine after restoration,
suddenly it became a beautiful machine and lots of fun to play.

Hi Jo - welcome to pennymachines.co.uk!
You may recall I bought some of your Bandieten books a few years ago.
That's a complicated mechanism! I admire your skill and bravery. Your pictures could be very helpful to anyone who has the pleasure of working on a Mills Dice. I've done some basic repairs on a Buckley Bones which is not quite as complex but more compact.

Re: Mills Dice Restoration
I have also rebuilt a couple of Mills Dice machines. They are amazing.
The Mills Dice is my favorite machine in my collection because of the mechanical wizardy of the thing.
If you want to see one in action, I have a YouTube video of it on my home page: http://www.IBuyOldSlots.com

Hi Dave - I agree, the Mills Dice is a fascinating game. Just wish I could afford one.
Thanks for all the great videos you've put on YouTube - I think we've linked to all of them in the See It Operate forum.

Re: Mills Dice Restoration
You're not far wrong. Mills lost a considerable amount of money because of the machine. However, one of the Mills brothers who was a regional manager in California was able to make some engineering changes to the machine that caused it to work reliably, and then it became popular, helping Mills to recover from the debacle.
