Put your money where your mouth is

(Not sure if it's a repeat) on TV today he bought it for £190 and sold it for £160. Something's not right somewhere.

One thing I can tell about the program is they are fairly accurate around what they buy things for. I used to do a few antique fairs and appeared on this show selling a gold sovereign to one of the team. A lot of messing with their production team, but they do buy the items for price stated and probably sell as well. They are paranoid about claims of false representation being made... so cheap cheap cheap.

But it does not surprise around knowledge, so few dealers still have a clue. Not long ago some TV production guy put a request on one of the slot machine Facebook groups looking for people wanting to sell or get more info on their pride and joy on a new TV show where dealers pitch and bid for their items or provide info. I asked the question, so how will they know the true value to put on items in our hobby to get a fair price, as most collectors know a lot more than them. Didn’t get a suitable answer and suggested the dealers would be able to advise on their items. They don’t have a clue. This is the case on many other collectables areas as well.

A lot of folk seem to have forgotten that television is entertainment, and not necessarily a view of the real world.

Unfortunately true......this program dislike the most as they sell to people they know rather than try and get market value for items.....seriously false.
