Re: No Room Left

I turned down an offer of $20,000 (2/3 of my yearly wage ) For my Williams ten strike would have cut my mortgage in half but I’d never find another one so it’s still in my collection What Dan neglected to mention was that this was a very unrestored machine at the time! Flaked backglass, ruined plas...

Re: Allwin Skill

Strangely I don't believe anybody addressed the major factor in the classic allwin layout (only two losing holes at either end) that have cast channel on either side of the two losing cups. Those end channels being cast brass, which will stop the steel balls dead with no bounce, as opposed to the sp...

Re: My new old Allwin

If you loosen the 4 x nuts holding the mech to the door the glass will be freed, you can see the four cupped bolt heads on the front door.

Re: Essex Greyhound Racer identified

GAMESWAT, posted that "Play Polo" was the most popular of all the games Polo seemed to be a popular re-vamp. That's a lot of extra info from my simple comment Roger. I've seen a couple more of the Polos than other games but I've never taken much interest in these revamped games so never c...

Re: Greyhound 2 player Race in the USA

Just to be clear PM, I don't know anything about the R&W made race games they sold after the war. But I have seen up close inside a couple of the tin cased versions that look just like post war wooden cases R&W sold, but the mechs were much older 1920's. Polo seemed to be a popular re-vamp....

Re: The Auto Stereoscope

You didn't happen to keep your measurements for the stand did you? I'm not the only collector in the UK who's talked about getting one made... PM your post above goes back to 2013, did you in fact ever get around to having any stands made? Coin-op hasn't never mentioned those plans I lent him since...

Re: Chester Pollard Play Golf

50 to 60 seems very low. It is a rare game compared to the Play Football, but I've seen 8 to 10 in person on my travels and know of at least 4 that were in Aust. Bob Klepner traded a burnt one to New Zealand and later sold his beautiful example to the US. That would mean a huge survival percentage c...

Re: Polo anyone?

Not on location, that second photo was taken at Greg McLemores house, most likely at the time of the 2005 COCA visit. The marquee is not original but an average painted version done in the UK before he purchased.

Re: Chester Pollard Play Golf

Hey Dan, was searching old emails but hadn't even bothered saving pics of the Golf/bagatelle conversion I was offered in Qld. But amazingly did find an email that reminded me I was also offered another re-vamped example on a US trip in 2007! John Papa goes on about his restored example as being this...
