Re: Interesting and very hopeful reply from my MP

Fair play for taking the time to write. Hope someone can find the time and common sense to recognise that machines over 20? years old are few and far between, commonly worth saving for nostalgic amusement and can be exchanged amongst those who have hung onto them and collectors without the need for ...

Re: Getting old

I thought the one that looked similar to another but without some of the embellishments on the cast case looked very 'toaster' but didn't like to say anything (can't think what it was muted to be now, or find the thread for that matter)

... that one has a 'cash register' feel to it !!ESCAPE!!

Re: The Market

Bribed my way into the Arena area when I joined (righteous or no :tarah: ) - when I need to up the dose, I dare-say a mag sub will be the way to go (still getting the required fix from these pages at the mo).

Re: The Market

is there an annual whip-round to cover running costs? seems to work quite well elsewhere, with for-sale/wanted ads then being free (although there is always the temptation for non-members to join up simply to flog/beg stuff)

Re: "The Lucky Coin Amusements" original 1960s arcade.

Looks really impressive - will be great to see more photos of the build-up and any more from when last operated. Did the machines pass into a private collection when laid up or were they scrapped? Does it build out from a trailer or is it completely errected from scratch? - looks like a fair bit of ...

Re: Bargain book

£56 sounds a bit strong, has the book become something of a collectors' item in itself or is it simply due to low print run?
Anyhow, £13 (delivered!) sounds very reasonable - a successful hunt by the sounds of it.

Re: Snap

There is an arcade on the seafront, Canvey Island with one of these machines - guessing they must be a good 30-40 years old with an S1 mech fitted?

Re: Ebay & Gambling Licence

An exemption over 25 years would be nice, then the machines I have nostalgic attachment to would be included (heathen I know :D but had no say in the matter, didn't arrive until '74). (Very interested in all the older gear too, hence ending up here :) but memories were of the tuppenny, fivepenny and...

Re: Bryans Double Decker restoration & motor

Apologies coin-op, that was never my intention! Hadn't picked up on it being your vid of your machine :) Know how it goes with machines - they need tweaking and fixing from time to time (and that's after the sometimes countless hours spent resurrecting them when they first arrive). Yeah, definately ...

Re: Pushers

I remember the Grand Canyon, or at least I remember the big rotating drums between decks (perhaps they featured on other Cromptons pushers of the era?). The floor-standing pushers with low coin entry and the spinning steel brush that flicked the coin up to the top deck were quite distinctive - I rec...

Re: Bryans Double Decker restoration & motor

Glad it wasn't just me. Thanks for posting that vid Slotalot - great to see it being played - might have said this already, but what a cracking little machine! (Think I would have to find a way to discretely quieten the bus down tho - reckon it might annoy me after a while :)) Guess with so few prod...

Re: Bryans Double Decker restoration & motor

Thanks for the info - always fascinated by production stats - the book refered to sounds interesting, might have to add a copy to my Christmas list (can't seem to find anything on the other end of the you-tube link tho?)

Re: Bryans Double Decker restoration & motor

The Rolls Royce of amusement motors, no less - does sound reassuringly expensive, given it must be quite a small unit to fit in the cabinet, but new, should last forever, I would think.

Meant to ask when these machines were built and if anyone knows roughly how many left the Bryans works?

Re: Dennison machine

hammer price of $2712 with 10 genuine looking bidders - can't help but smile wryly at the Q&A old used item, no doubt regarded by most as having out-lived its commercial lifespan = value very much in the eye of the beholder ... the offer of $175 and same-day collection does look a little 'lost' ...

Re: Bryans Double Decker restoration & motor

Great little machine (always had a particular fondness for pushers) - good luck with the resto, look forward to some more photos and progress updates when you have the time. Blistered skin looks very much similar to that removed from an 80s caravan during a conversion (must admit I thought it was pr...
