Re: Mills Kounter King Trade Stimulator identified
Maybe when a win is notified, the attendant presses the reset button and the last coin deployed drops out of the chute so he knows what denomination to repay against?

Re: Sega Windsor slot
I followed all of the lines and it was good Physics revision from almost 50 years ago. Very enjoyable. However for the less technically minded, here is an alternative method if you are prepared to do it yourself. 1. Unwind the solenoid and measure the length of the wire as 77m. 2. Measure the diamet...

Re: Sega Windsor slot
I think it is called 'bad luck' BP. Could the insulation have split or chafed around the retaining clip perhaps? Switch it on and run your tongue along the wires. I'm sure if there is a fault you will soon find it. :!: (Capacitive coupling wouldn't provide the power - the solenoid would soon drain it)

Re: Sega Windsor slot
Electromagnetic induction is simple - without it we couldn't have transformers
But you would have to have some pretty strange wiring in a bandit cabinet to induce sufficient voltage to operate a solenoid. Notice any large coils of wire? I'd think a resistive short is more probable.

Seems like some of this old thread has gone missing?
Not important if this is a one-off, but hope we are not losing postings.

Re: New take on Rubik's Cube
It is real. I got one for last Christmas, but they are not as big as the original cubes. Also, once scrambled. the chances of me solving it are less than the odds of a jackpot on my slotty.

Another thread where the number of posts doesn't match the number in the index so doesn't flag as 'read'. Hope this post fixes it.

Re: cheap allwin on ebay 260263190679
Nothing to do with the thread content, but this topic seems to be corrupted somehow. I read all the posts and returned to the index but it didn't mark the post as 'read'. Having looked again, the index stated 4 replies but the actual topic had 5 replies so I assume it hasn't registered correctly. I ...

Re: Google Home WTF?
When Satnavs first became popular, many people programmed a 'Home' destination as a convennient way of plotting a route home from any location. Of course thieves stealing your car could then use this to go and rob your house while they knew you were out.

Re: Google Home WTF?
Bit late to get suspicious now. Lots of people have been carrying smartphones around for a while and 'they' have the ability to turn on the microphone or camera in the phone without your knowledge, not to mention the obvious location services even when it appears to you to be turned off. At least th...

Re: Standing in snow looking at a car park.
Generally the folk up here in the North East are a friendly lot (I moved up from the Midlands almost 40 years ago and decided to stay) but with the recent closure of the steelworks in Redcar you were pretty lucky to find anyone at work on any day of the week. The orange colour isn't from the tanning...
