Re: Sega Basketball?
Topic moved & merged - Site Admin. Just purchased this Basketball machine today (rather strange after reading Cait001 post in Niche collections this very morning.) Big question: who made it? Does not look like the Sega in Cait001 post. Can anybody advise on the ball used and does anyone know ho...

Re: Morphy April 2024 auction catalogue
Hi, just replied to your email. My hobby-time is sometimes just in short bursts, with indeterminate gaps in between, so apologies for the delay. Def interested, but I'm going to see if someone has the set first, just to simplify.

Re: Sega Basketball?
adding: I do think your machine is an earlier model. At least, initially. Yours has the three holes for each leg visible. It appears retrofitted with the extra green base, and then the robust coin door added. I'd be curious to know if you feel that retrofit was an amateur one-off or done by a factor...

Re: Morphy April 2024 auction catalogue
One last entry on Bill Howard. He had a third book published,"What's Worth Keeping." 2022. All the pictures in Bill's books are excellent and he recounts how he came to obtain the games. Any chance you, or anyone else, would sell Bill Howard's books? I'd like to buy them to do high resolu...

these two pages on my site have a very few photos taken at trade shows in the 60's I do not know what shows or the actual dates other than the photo labled "1963 photo of the London amusement machine trade fair at the Horticultural halls shows Ruffler&Walker's stand front middle with Morri...

A.T.E. 21 exhibitors? 1965
Does anyone have the exhibitor list and/or photos of exhibits at A.T.E. 21 of 1965? (Amusement Trade Exhibition) searching through magazines all I've been able to find is a handful of photos of few people there, but that's it. I have exhibitor lists from A.T.E. 20 (1964) and 22 (1966) and 23 (1966),...

Re: Putting Coinslot archive online
Bumping this thread again: I am looking for runs of Coin Slot magazine to purchase and/or borrow. I will do high resolution scans of all of them, share them freely, and take all legal risks. If you want to sell them to me, great. If you want them back, I will cover all shipping costs and could even ...

Re: Sega Clover Bell & Blackjack
It's hard to see this machine as a trade stimulator as in the original meaning. The trade stimulator period was dead and buried by 1949 and these Clovers come from era V of Sega's slot period so that's after the Sega hi-tops and Continentals, so late '70s and at the very end of their slot machine p...

Re: Ahrens / Shefras Punchballs
I bet every few years they painted the whole thing over, not to modernise but to protect. As Fred Fowle commented , showmen regularly slapped on a new coat of varnish (or in this case paint) to protect the piece from wear and tear and the elements. Perhaps you should frame it? !!ARTIST!! LOL this i...

Here is a link: https://earlyarcadesjapan.blogspot.com/2024/01/1937-japan-big-racecourse-tabletop.html I have copied the images from this thread for the post to showcase the similarities. Even though the single image is of poor quality, there are many parallels that point to Ahrens' machines as bein...

Re: Ahrens Huntsmans Derby identified
I'm quite excited this thread popped up. I was sifting through Automatic Pleasures today and noticed the Huntsmans Derby and came online to learn more about it.
I think I've identified a Japanese machine that was a copy / based on Huntsman Derby and/or Greyhound Derby

Re: Morphy Oct 2023 Las Vegas
There's just no auction house that brings the spectacle like Morphy does. Lots of excitement brings lots of eyeballs which brings higher prices, but then that's why all the top collectors use them to exchange their 5-figure machines I guess. Morphy does the whole collector community a service by kee...

Ahhh well spotted! I'm in the process of finishing up an "arcade exploration" video to cover all of the machines in this TV show, and was just about to get to those pickwick-style ones. The current batch of arcade explorations is here: https://pinballnovice.blogspot.com/search/label/Arcade...
