Re: Trouble with Aristocrat reels not releasing

There should be very minimal play in the rear bar and if the clamp is upside down, the wear pattern will produce play, thus adding to your problem. If a new dog is needed, a drill bit of the right diameter could be your starting point to fashion a new one. I'm sure someone can post a picture of a go...

Re: Decorative edge trim for an Exacta

Well done sourcing the trim, I found using a hot air gun on bends and corners makes life a lot easier, especially on T moulding.

Re: Duo Mat newbie questions

I've had a few of these great machines. A few tips from my experiences: work on a clear workbench with an old sheet doubled over. This will protect the glass when it falls out, if you decide to unscrew the fixings. Don't force anything. Use releasing fluid on any sticking screws. Most are fine pitch...

Is this really a 80 ish year old machine? Very little wear on some of the mech parts that I can see.

Re: Ruffler and Walker - What's My Line?

An easy restoration, even for a novice. The track should come up well with some fine wire wool, go steady on the back flash, Tcut or similar will do. The corroded top is nickel plate and is symmetrical so with luck, the back of the plate will be in better condition, so take off the plate, reverse fi...

Re: Aristocrat Kingsway

Simple fix on the reel lock - the holding screws have lateral adjustment. Simply loosen both screws, slide to the right. Job done!!

Re: Bryans Gapwin Project

Very good restore. If I can make a suggestion, replace the rusty screws with electrical socket slotted screws and bolts. (screws available from Screwfix). A quick spin on the polisher or drill will match them to the new chrome. I've done a few of these and if I had to do another, I'd look at using s...

Re: Bally Money Honey

I have a similar set up on my Bally using a Swiss 50v motor and wipers. The roller switch probably switches the live to the motor at the beginning or end of the cycle and would be operated by a cam mounted on the shaft. On mine, the 2 relays operate 2 payout solenoids, 1 for the jackpot token, 1 for...

Re: Bryans Gapwin Project

My kind of project. It is always a balance between a total refurb or a sympathetic restoration, no right answer. As Tree frog says, do as much prep as possible before sending off for plating, as they won't do as good a job as you can. I don't see a problem with the track, Bryan's often used very thi...

Re: German Veromat slot wiring help needed

I've given up on this one, so to get it partially working, I've wired the start button straight to the cam contacts, so at least the reels spin as they should and it looks the part. Thanks everyone for their input.

Re: German Veromat slot wiring help needed

Before I took the wires off the switch, all 3 were connected to 3 terminals, Com, NO, NC all looked original. The diagram is for a slightly different version, by the same maker, so it is only a guide really. I'm going to take the cam springset out again to have a really close look at the changeovers...

Re: German Veromat slot wiring help needed

Another day at the coal face. I decided to correct the spelling error by making a new marque, thanks Mr P for changing the title. I discovered the dis wire was on the wrong tag of the connector, sorted that out. Still got a full short across the mains when the coin switch operates. Trying to get my ...

Re: German Veromat slot wiring help needed

I'll have have a look later, after I have sketched the pin sequence. I could try a temp connection to the remaining pin that has a solder blob on it. Will be tomorrow now, I think. My 69 Yr old brain needs a rest!!!

Re: German Veromat slot wiring help needed

Using an ohm meter, across live and neutral measures 250 ohm, presumably the 6v transformer winding. Shorting the coin switch drops the resistance to zero, hence the Big Bang. Taking off your suggested wires makes no difference to the readings. The coin release relay has 250v across it, however it d...

Re: German Veromat slot wiring help needed

Thanks guys, I'll have another look. The game runs if you manually press contact 1 on the right, so the motor and reel side looks good, the restart button works, lights work, so whatever the fault is should be easier to narrow down with the diagram. Thanks again. Just read about the resistor thingy,...

Re: German Veromat slot wiring help needed

Thanks guys, fuse blows immediately the coin switch makes contact. I have started to unpick the wiring loom in the hope that the short circuit will show itself. Very interested to see that the correct name is a Veromat!! no wonder I can't find any info about it!!
