Re: Ahrens / Shefras Punchball

Just had to register a new user name as the password with my old one GAMESWA wasn't working and I'd lost the email address I registered with, been offline for quite a while. Anyway, here's a few Ahrens pics that may help both restorers. Let me know if you need more info. I have two and neither have ...

Re: Radio Rifle

Awesome Dave!! More than enough information for me to make the missing rifle. I'll probably end up hand making that stock to match the photo, and the barrel is just a length of pipe. It really only needed something to act as a sight anyway but since I have to make it I'd much prefer it to be exact. ...

Re: Radio Rifle

Was just searching the net and came across these used film frames for sale on eBay. I have yet to do any work on the mechanism but it looks like there must be some adjustment built in for how much film is moved with each play, to allow for the ad and target to be sliced.

Re: Radio Rifle

Dave- a photo of the rifle would be great! Did you have the machine running? The flyer I have says that normally the film carries ads every second frame to induce people to play the machine, but that the operator may prefer to sell that advertising space to someone else for added income from the mac...

Re: Radio Rifle

Yeah John, you just have to love those target films and the placement of some of those bullseyes. There's a great one of a girl on her hands and knees looking back over her shoulder at you, and you just know where she was getting shot! I've heard that John Papa of National Juke has some wartime film...

Autocosmoscope - great name.

While I was looking in the PennyMachines Patent list I tried to find the Patent for this machine but it didn't appear to be there. Originally made by Haydon & Urry 1896. The mechanism is practically identical to my 1937 Bollands art deco Auto Stereoscope. Other than a missing rod for the belt of ste...

Radio Rifle

Currently trying to find some missing information on my 1930 Radio Rifle so as to get the restoration underway. I picked this machine up from an old time US collector and I really dig it. I've heard of three other surviving examples but never seen them. I know of one collector who has actually playe...

Re: Mystery gripper

I know exactly what you mean about the unique smell of old machines....but wood absorbs and cast iron doesn't. A cast iron machine with a long missing back is not likely to smell of much since any odour will have wafted away over time. I presume the glossy black paint on the interior looked new? So ...

Re: Mystery gripper

Penny Machines - I'm interested to know if the rear of the machine was open or if it had a back? Thinking about it I realised the machine looks very much like a Germanised version of the Caille Uncle Sam, even down to the way the hand grip sits below the bottom of the waist casting. Did you get any ...

Re: Mystery gripper

Interesting. I can't believe that this is a fantasy piece that was recently made up from someone's imagination. The stuff from China is made in bulk so we'd be swimming in these things if that was so. And for the trouble somebody would've had to go to that's not much profit? Could they really have h...
