Re: Stevenson and Lovett Fireworks

And yes it’s a pretty simple design. Before I saw it I was puzzling how they were going to make it step 3 times for a ball in one hole, 2 for another and 1 for some. When I saw it followed the same principle of multiple win allwins it became very obvious and I felt pretty stupid for not guessing giv...

Re: Stevenson and Lovett Fireworks

So for this of interest to its now working! For those interested in what needed doing … The transformer had a dodgy primary winding with a break in the internal wire. Pressing it made it work or not. I changed it for an 8A 6-0-6v one and used 12v for the solenoid circuit and 6v for the bulbs. The sw...

Re: Jezzard Tap a Coin

There doesn't look to be too much to it. Personally, I'd try to sketch a rough circuit diagram by tracing the wires. Then you might get an idea of what's meant to do what. Maybe that's just the way I think though!

Re: Jezzard Tap a Coin

As above, diodes are used to allow electron flow in one direction only. Strange one appears to have been cut out. They can also be used to prevent a back current surge when a coil activates, although that’s generally to prevent components being damaged where semiconductors are present such as solid ...

Re: Stevenson and Lovett Fireworks

It did cross my mind to change to 12v throughout but ordered 6v bulbs now and the transformer has a 6v tap anyway so no more work really. I am replacing the 2 mains lamps with 12v led boat lamps though - the idea of one of the solenoids switching mains on one of the flimsy switches makes me nervous!

Re: Stevenson and Lovett Fireworks

Thanks. That confirms what I thought. I suspect it’s a 6 0 6v transformer. 12v for the solenoids and 6v for bulbs. I’ll order a transformer and give that a whirl. Cheers

Re: Stevenson and Lovett Fireworks

I managed to find the missing part in a bag of bits - result! Next question. The transformer is dead on this one, broken winding on the mains side making it intermittent and potentially nasty. Does anyone know the voltage this works at? When I momentarily got this one to work it was putting out abou...

Re: Stevenson and Lovett Fireworks

Ah that’s perfect. Thanks. I noticed the slotted bit underneath but wasn’t sure what shaped part fitted into it. Now to make one…..!

Re: Stevenson and Lovett Fireworks

Delivery received! All the switches and electrics are a bit of mess. Compared to a pinball machine it’s pretty simple stuff however so should be able to sort all that pretty easily. However, after a quick look there’s a bit missing from the mech. There’s nothing connected to the device that releases...

Re: Bally money honey

Yes it should have an arm which will make contact between the inside ring and one or more of the outside studs. Looking in the manual I have this must be a very late model - all the steppers in the manual are the 'pinball' type solenoid steppers which I'm more familiar with. I'm not familiar wit thi...

Stevenson and Lovett Fireworks

Topic merged - Site Admin. I’m being sent one of these by someone (not sure if they are a member or not) in the hope that I’ll fix up the electrics to get it working again. Apparently he’d previously given it someone many of us hold dear - ‘Fencing’ of EBay fame! The one who caused the download pro...

Re: German Veromat slot wiring help needed

Well I certainly don’t claim to be an ‘expert’, but I’ve fixed quite a lot of EM pinball machines in the past so can usually find my way around EM machines. It’s not always that easy ‘remotely’ however. If anyone has any EM stuff they need sorting I’m happy to consider it at reasonable rates. Just m...

Re: Each way oliver whales slot restore

I think these backflashes were printed directly onto the plastic. You could replace by doing it the way Wondermatics did on their machines. I.e. scan and tidy the backflash on a computer and print onto thick card, then lay a 500 micron clear acetate sheet over the top before putting the hardware bac...

Re: German Veromat slot wiring help needed

No worked on this particular machine before but lots of pinballs. It is trickier without a schematic. Does the fuse blow as soon as the coin goes in or later after it’s activate the score motor? If the switches are gapped correctly and the tags where the wires join them are bent onto one another the...

Re: Rotamints

I can’t imagine it will draw 1000w. Or at least if it does then it probably is about to burn your house down. As above, I usually check the basics and if all OK plug it in while watching for any nasty things happening.
