Re: John Taylors slot machine auction: 12/03/24
trust the BBC to have no idea, take what they were told as fact and do no checks of their own... I wouldn't expect the BBC to second guess auctioneer's estimates. Besides, who would they check with? I'm not sure you or I could have confidently predicted the outcome with games that haven't passed ha...

Re: Green Ray Television restoration
Thank you Tim. So it would seem 30 cards was the full 'standard' set from Automatic Supplies of Birmingham, although one or two other printers produced variants. Sweetmeats has sent hi-res scans of the set which I'll put up next week. Although the ink's purple, we think it's because the green pigmen...

Re: Essex Football & Ahrens Great Polo Game identified
I think the inner castings are mostly aluminium, and the outer fittings might be plated brass? Additional to the other suggestions, regular squirts of penetrating oil might help. The key will be patience; don't try to rush it. Keep trying to gently work pieces free after a few weeks soaking, wigglin...

:WELCOME: to pennymachines anonymous, bandit-territory. Where've you been hiding all these years? :o I think it's fortunate but very surprising that everyone's not addicted. Presumably most folk haven't been initiated. !PUZZLED! Your Jennings Peacock has come up nicely. Well done. !THUMBS! It's good...

Re: Green Ray Television restoration
I have been lucky enough to own at least 4 green rays over the years The second one pictured has now resided with me for a decade or so... Still got lots of cards somewhere It would be cool to record all the different cards on here. Maybe just a text record. I believe Clive Baker improvised a few n...

How to modify your profile
Jimmy asked the following and, as it's not obvious, I thought a public reply might be helpful: I'm probably missing something but how do you modify your profile details. I found how to swap Avatar but thought it was about time to update my machine list. When you're logged into the Forum, find the dr...

Arena etc. login problem
There is currently a problem with logging into all areas other than the Forum. This appears to be caused by a recent software update. I'm working on it and will report back once it's resolved.

Re: Need a Guru
Yes I do have the cabinet also. That's good. So from the pictures you can see that it was converted? We know it was converted from the old penny because Whales ceased production well before British currency went decimal. We know it wasn't originally a Have a Go because of the gift pay mechan...

Re: Need a Guru
Hi parlamnt and :WELCOME: Your allwin does appear to have lost its way a little, but this could easily be remedied. Is the outer cabinet missing? As you guessed, it's European, specifically British, made by Oliver Whales in the 1950s and would have originally been on the large old (pre-decimal) penn...
