Great work.
Although using WD40 isn't the best idea, a light coating of 3in1, or sewing machine oil will work much better.

The 'coin reject arm' you've taken off is actually the arm that pushes coins into the overflow chute and into the cash box, when the payout tube is full.

It'll be worth £800-1000, when restored. They are great games to play, the aim is to fill a column with balls 'till it overflows then you win a number of pennies, depending on how many balls were in the column. As Jeremy said, modern stripper is useless. You used to be able to get some called Synstrip, made by Starchem off ebay, but I don't think it's sold anymore.
One option is to soak a rag in thinners & leave it on the paint for 5 minutes, and that should soften it up enough to scrape most of it off.
