mid life crisis??

Since I hit the age of 55 two years ago my life seems to have changed. a) I aquired a Lotus Excel ( 1980 something, a project, eBay ) b) a Honda 500 ( 1980 something, a project, eBay) c) 2 x pinballs (1980 something, 1939, projects, eBay and a local shop). I am struggling to justify this change in l...

Re: Misspent youth

I've just done a complete tour of the prom on Google Streetmap and realise I may never need to go anywhere again! Looks like theres still plenty of amusements there Hutto. I think it would take a day to get my two boys from one end to the other and a few quids worth of 2p's for the pushers !!SUICIDA...

Re: miss spent youth

That seems quite a big price tag compared to other machines of its vintage..... Must be a popular machine.

Where did you play it originally Hutto? I am nearly finished repairing the PCB on my gambling related Bally Black Jack pinball.... fingers crossed time!

Re: Niiiiice Vendor!

I used to love Kempton when we lived that way. Twice a month on the second and last Tuesday from 6.30am! Early start but loads of stalls inside and out. Can be pricey at times.....a favorite with the 'trade'.

Re: Genco Airport pinball restoration

I appreciate that brands are different over here Gameswat but what lacquer are you using ...is it automotive or an art product? @special when lit .....I may have to come back for more detail on the rectifier issue as thats on the boundries of my electrical knowledge! I am in the process of taking de...

Re: Genco Airport restoration

Thanks for that Gameswat, good advice I think. Next issue to pace is the playfield itself which is in remarkably good nick apart from being a little grubby. The paint is quite fragile and I think would flake if subjected to too much silver ball at the moment! Is there any fixative, varnish etc to se...

how far to go?

Topic merged - site admin. A couple of questions after my first stage of restoring my 1939 Genco Airport. Where to draw the line regarding preserving the original or replacing? 1) The bottom ply board of the case must have been damp sometime and is a bit buckled and slightly de-laminating. It's not...

Re: The Robin Hood in Sheringham

Wow that's the one Slotalot... thanks for the re-union, I remember it well. I notice you need a re-fill! I had a Rowntrees Fruitgum allwin about 10 years ago, but the packets are bigger now so I always had to eat a few to make them smaller to fit the machine. more from Merrivale: https://www.youtube...

Re: The Robin Hood in Sheringham

Will do Stuart, I signed it myself last week and posted details on the pinball info forum too. The Robin Hood is good, but unfortunately you can't play the machines. For a hands on arcade in Norfolk go to Merrivale model village in Great Yarmouth. It's free to get in the arcade and £1 for 10 old pen...

Re: The Robin Hood in Sheringham

Glad to hear the Norfolk wind didn't let us down.

I'm lucky enough to have The Robin Hood as my local..... good quiz on the Thursday night. Not recommended after a bad sleep under canvas though!

Re: New member, new pinball!

Many thanks for the words of welcome and encouragement guys. I have uploaded some detailed pics to my website after a quick peek inside this afternoon http://www.endofthepier.co.uk/airport.html I can see some areas that I will ask for advice on but I will post these in the correct heading as my mind...

Genco pinballs

Topic merged - Site Admin. Hi Folks, I am new to the forum, having just acquired two machines in as many weeks. The first is maybe a little late for this forum (1980 Bally Black Jack pinball) but the second is a 1939 Genco 'Airport' pinball. It's an ebay purchase and took me on a near 400 mile roun...
