Re: Jennings plastic inserts
I'd support the polishing over the plating option. Some of these early castings were done using aircraft alloy, rather than the usual 'pot' ali, which makes DIY polishing much harder, ( which is why there was a sudden upsurge in orders to Germany from the factories, just before WW2). Leave it to the...

Although this is for a guitar part, should hold good for other materials.

Re: Treff Tempo on ebay today
Just seen a Youtube video about using superglue and bi-carb of soda to repair similar damaged parts. It sets as hard as glass and if you use the thin glue, it should fill all the holes and cracks... just a thought.

Re: Bryans Clock machine
all the artwork for this is available in 'Resources' on a tab in this forum, print onto decent weight semi gloss paper and it should do just right. The clock hands were available from Hobbies, last time I bought one, or other clock related retailers. The mechs are made from WW2 tank parts, so are bo...

Love it, apart from a dodgy looking star and the payout amount stickers looking a bit strange.

Re: Reproduction machines
A recent ebay posting of a Nostalgic repro Allwin described it as being 'a vintage machine converted from old halfpenny play' to 2p. When I challenged the seller, he simply said that was how the auctioneer he bought it from described it. Needless to say it never sold, especially as it was up for sil...

Re: ARISTOCRAT ARCADIAN HELP
the multi holed overflow tube can easily be made from scrap stainless steel sheet. Make wooden former from your original and bend a bit of old microwave oven, or whatever, round the wood to create the right profile. I had loads of old Aristo stuff, but long gone now. Nice job BTW..............

Re: Elephant House Auctions
Apparently sold lots that somehow disappear, only to be re offered later is often down to a practise known as selling to the chandelier. It is common in small auctions when the seller and the auctioneer are known to each other, or the seller is the auctioneer. It is used to bump up the price of item...

Re: Locks for a Beromat /Gunther Wulff wall machine
Good luck with the lock issue. I've never found anything to do the job. Have you tried a 'proper' locksmith, as opposed to the high street franchises for a key? Failing that, try the German websites that specialise in GW machines, 'links' from our Home PAge might help.

Re: Great wire brush set for use in drills
I wouldn't say TK Maxx are cheap, they are a US company and use hyped up prices in order to offer a '60% reduction' which is usually still over priced. They were cautioned by the ASA for their advertising practises, but seemed to have taken no notice. Anyway, this has little to do with the Clarke wi...

Re: Just like buses
For anyone near to Wales, the PerfeKta is a easy fix. The handle is held down by the locking catch, which can be teased out with a screwdriver. It will be jammed up due to hardened grease & oil on all the horizontal rods, and the damper tubes. The coin entry part has come adrift, part 1 is in th...

ebay bandit auctions seem to be increasing of late, with no mention of a Gambling Licence. Has anyone had a listing removed recently for this terrible transgression? Gumtree are going the other way, some sellers using the same number for different machines, or just making something up that sounds ri...

You need ex BT switch adjusting tools, if you can find any, which are specifically made for the job... Sorry you can't have mine! Car boot, vintage auto shows may be useful sources. There is a shop on Steep Hill in Lincoln that is packed with vintage radio gear, old bulbs & switches who may be a...
