Bryans 12 win clock brake

I recently bought a Bryans 12 Win Clock and the hands whiz around fine but the brake applies whilst the hands are at full speed and the ticking continues for another 3 seconds. The instructions on the back are grubby and not legible, so having read in resources how important it is to have the hands ...

Re: To stick or not to stick.....

I asked about the use of Sellotape for fear of it lifting the finish off the backflash when removed. Handy that you say that pinning it is not needed as I have removed heaps of them from the old backflash and thought if I were not to use adhesive then I might have to re-pin. So onwards and upwards a...

Re: To stick or not to stick.....

Thanks chaps, particularly raj for your comprehensive reply - you mention using clear tape to avoid splitting - is that as in Sellotape or something more 'special' ? Could I use masking tape?

To stick or not to stick.....

I am about to replace a backflash on a Bryans Elevenses-is it customary to use an adhesive (PVA?) to glue it to the backboard or leave it 'naked'? It is a genuine Bryans backflash not a reproduction. :!?!:

Re: A couple of unusual allwins

The black and gold part of the backflash looks like a Brenner, 'Ball Past the Arrow' as this had 'Skill' written in the same way.

Re: Easy Perm

Well spotted coppinpr, I too fail to see how a coin will trigger the ball release, but then I'm no expert, perhaps the really clever chaps will enlighten us.The seller says it is in working order so it must be okay as ebay sellers are allways honest aren't they? SkEpTiCaL

Re: Chrome through the post?

Malc, have you tried London and Brighton plating Co. in North St. Portslade. I have used them a few times and found them to be okay, turnaround about 7-10 days. Not sure if they do a postal service though but reasonably local for you. Kevin Button (director) is the chap to speak to on 01273 418122.

Re: Wonders Feast

Results are in:- Win and Place £514, fair enough. Chip or Bust £1038, Spin a Win £1038. Is it odd that same buyer won the Chip and the Spin, same price, same number of bids and was close to winning W&P? Or maybe just a couple of new Wonders fanatics? Certainly appears to make last year's Chip or...

Re: Wonders Feast

Yes Terry, they were on ebay; the Chip or Bust in May and the Spin a Win in July. Any views on the lack of roof on the Spin a Win - would that have held the price/interest down?

Re: Wonders Feast

The Spin a Win seems highly priced at £750 as one went for £530 this time last year and was in better condition with regard to the chrome and glass and had a good cabinet and backflash but I believe it didn't have a traditional Wonders roof but I've heard that this can sometimes be the way with Wond...

Re: Imperial allwin auction

I like the idea (of swaledalesots) of staining with spirit dye and then Brywax, or even good old Danish oil, this way, should go too far wrong. For me and I suspect many novices, dragging it across driveways and bashing it to give it some age would be daunting to say the least for fear of it looking...
