Re: Play Nine Holes golf penny game
Hi, well finally got round to taking the back off of this machine and woah what a mess inside. Happily the glass is in great condition considering (pic 1), but needs a careful cleaning. The bits I thought were missing are actually there, they were hidden behind about a million broken pieces of yello...

Re: Play Nine Holes golf penny game
Thank you pennymachines, that would be perfect. I would rather follow a template than struggle with guessing it It will take me a week or two to sort out the casing anyway. Mei-mei

Re: Play Nine Holes golf penny game
Hi, thanks coppinpr for the heads up. The part of the plastic track that has the notches in is the part I will screw to the back board. The remaining flat surface will become the track for the penny to follow. I like the idea of the hole being larger than the penny approximately how much larger woul...

Re: Play Nine Holes golf penny game
Hi, I found a solution to the track, pics below. Using a bit of right angled plastic trim I have cut little notches in it and it bends without any difficulty on the notch. I can then drill through that edge and screw it to the back board. I have used this material before and with a light sanding it ...

Re: Play Nine Holes golf penny game
Thanks coppinpr, just to clarify are the holes cut into the back board or into the track? Can't quite work out how the pennies would fall towards the backboard if they are moving forward? Mei-mei

Re: Play Nine Holes golf penny game
Thank you pennymachines, unfortunately the one I have has only the glass supported with wooden struts behind. There is no back plate at all, and it looks as though someone has just tried to stabilise the glass to use it for display purposes only. Would I be right in thinking that these 'tracks' foll...

Play Nine Holes golf penny game
Hi, I have just purchased the front glass and shell of the above game. (Pic below) I would love to restore it but it is in pretty poor shape. Does anyone have pics of the workings of this machine and some advice on how to proceed? Thanks Guys, Mei-mei

Decorative parts you can't find replacements for
Hi, I had some issues finding a 1d nominator for one of my machines, so I found a fix (not for the purists). You can buy on line stuff to make a silicone mould. the silicone putty comes in two parts, each a different colour so you can see when it is mixed correctly the colour will be uniform. You th...

Re: 1d nominator
Hi, I have a neat solution to the missing nominator although for the purists amongst you I can feel the cringe already. Please see picks of the original and a copy made using silicone putty for a mould and resin for the image. It does however depend on getting an original for the casting. MM P101000...

Re: Bryans Clock machine
Hi, I have checked the gears and they seem to have all their teeth and turning easily, freshly cleaned and oiled. Sorry meant hour hand, was typing and sipping beer at same time not thinking clearly. :woops: Having taken another look at it this morning, if the hour hand was slightly thinner where it...

Re: Bryans Clock machine
Ooooook, home now and taking a proper look at the hands etc. I can see from the previous postings that the minute hand is soldered on, but for the life of me I can see how the dial plate then fits over the top of it? !PUZZLED! I have had just the one beer but even given that there is no way the dial...

Re: Bryans Clock machine
Thank you 13rebel, got the gist when I checked out the photos. From your description I had initially thought the V was on the bevel of the minute hand, but all clear now. MM

Re: Bryans Clock machine
Hi Derek. Thanks for the info, looking forward to giving it a try, but will have to wait till early next week as I am at my daughters' this weekend. Soldering will be the first attempt for me so any hints would be welcome. Nice to hear from you again 13rebel and if the V works instead of soldering, ...

Re: Bryans Clock machine
Hi again, I have tried it several ways, that's why I contacted you. Sometimes the minute hand just dangles while the hour hand goes round, then neither hand goes round. Another try made the hour hand go at the speed of the minute hand and visa versa, then the hour hand just dangles while the minute ...

Re: Bryans Clock machine
Hi all, well after months of huffing and puffing I am finally at the point of reattaching the clock hands. Problem is it has been so long I can't remember what order the bits go in. Is it washer; min. hand; washer; hour hand; washer; nut? Or are there less washers? Help please, Mei-mei
