Hi Guy. Don't know where you live but I've always used these guys. Good prices if you don't mind waiting a few weeks for your parts. http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=collins%20chemical%20blacking&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CCwQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.collinsch...

Niiiiice Vendor!
I'm not really a fan of gum vendors but when this one popped up at Kempton this morning I couldnt really resist! Never seen a vendor with a goose neck coin entry before.

Re: Ruffler & Walker allwin payout knob
Hi Mark, you could try Jez Darvill at:
(email removed to avoid Spam. Email or PM forum member from here: Retreeva - Site admin.)
He carries a lot of allwin spares so you might be lucky. I've got a few spare payout knobs but not one for a R&W unfortunately.
Happy Hunting.
Terry.

Re: Rare Mills Bandit in console case
A Silver Palace, eh? No wonder I couldn't find a comparable picture on Google! There are some plugged holes at the top of my case but they've been sprayed in brown crackle paint along with the rest of the case a loooong time ago so I would assume this one never sported the top turrets. I think it lo...

Re: Rare Mills Bandit in console case
Hi Treefrog. I think there was an earlier 1930s style castle top which was a lot more colourful. This one is plainer and the castle brickwork and ramparts are all part of the cast front, no clamp on bits at all. It has the original paint which although looks a bit dull, I think gives it a period loo...

Rare Mills Bandit in console case
Just liberated this Mills Castle Top bandit from a family that had owned it for over 30 years thanks to a tip off by a fantastic fellow slottie (you know who you are)! Love the Art Deco case on it but any idea when it was made and has anybody got a 6d button to fit over the 5c one? It is complete an...

Re: The Oliver Whales Story
Well, well... looks like somebody else was looking for our photographer....1920s to 40s eh? I've emailed the lady to see if she managed to find out any details but it will probably turn out to be a wild goose chase! http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=walter%20a.%20lee%20comyn%20road%20...

Re: The Oliver Whales Story
Blimey Stuart, they could do with you down at MI5!! That really is a long shot but possible I suppose? How would we trace them? My mum has an account on ancestry.com. If the negs survive somewhere then they could have loads taken that day.
Keep in touch!

Re: The Oliver Whales Story
Stuart, as Arrgee rightly noticed, all the Whales machines have topflashes which must have been outmoded by the mid fifties so a very early fifties date would probably be about right. I've even tried to find out how much ice creams were around that time to try and date it! If you look at the lightin...

Re: The Oliver Whales Story
No problem. I wonder if this Herbert Morgan chap is in the photo as it was in a big frame with other paraphenalia relating to him? I'll add the photos of the other machines when I get the chance. They are mainly pinball stuff but somebody may recognise them.

Re: The Oliver Whales Story
Yes, forgot to add that the Film Stars and White City bandits were Bolands creations. Maybe the White side of the partnership was the company who manufactured the plastic signs which seem to be heavily featured in the photo?

Re: The Oliver Whales Story
Hi all. Went to Kempton Antiques Fair today and picked up a few old photos and paraphenalia related to that favourite old subject of ours.....slot machines! There are several photos of machines related to a Herbert G. Morgan who doesn't feature in the Arcades and Slot Machines book but who was a &qu...

Re: Allwin de luxe and Mills Cherry falls
Giles, with regard to the allwin, quite a lot of these had a decoratively engineered metal background as opposed to the green beize. I can't quite see what yours looks like from the photo but it appears to be the former.

Re: Free Steeple Chase
Scottie, what a result! I've got several ball galleries in the spares box but not the chromed surround. If you let me know the measurements when you get it, I'll have a look to see if I have a suitable part.
