Re: reintroduction

Welcome back Richard. We've bought bits and pieces from each other over the years for '80s machines.

Ballys and associated conversions are just about old enough for us here! :HaHa:

The standard of machines in the video start off so well, and then go completely downhill. :HaHa:

Re: Confused Puppet Show?

If you're going to reinstate the solenoid pull for the tall clown, then putting small lightweight springs (inline) on each string will reduce the sudden jerk and prevent the puppet falling apart in the longterm.

Re: Harpoon or Shaft ???

I think Gameswat has put into words what a lot of us had been thinking for some time and maybe bit our tongues because of your advanced years Roger. It's good that you're here, but we don't need 'tasks' setting all the time, because the questions you ask you don't really appear to be interested in g...

Re: Confused Puppet Show?

Having seen your better photos, I'm inclined to steer away from thinking Hillcrest as a maker. The cabinet is completely different from theirs by way of dimensions and how everything is set out. The glove puppets and piano were a red herring as just put in there to make the sale. The cabinet trim wa...

Re: Confused Puppet Show?

The Sooty shows are Mayfield. As you point out there are some similar characteristics between the Hillcrest machines and cjfenny's, (cabinet edge trim, piano, etc). The Hillcrest machines have various cord pulls up to the puppets from one long horizontal pole in the base that rotates from a motor an...

Re: Confused Puppet Show?

I looked at the many photos and passed on this one. I'm afraid this has been right royally messed up after such a long time left in damp storage that the chipboard case has absorbed so much damp the cabinet has slumped under its own weight at either side of the stand, and that really takes some long...

Re: Peerless Product Pharaoh Working Model

I remember when we were all stood around the machine at the Nobles auction. It looked nice. There was no power at the venue but we were pulling the cords for the movements and talking about how few there were. Unusual for a Bolland. Some of the Pharaohs have the coffin lid opening on its own and jus...

Re: Peerless Product Pharaoh Working Model

There was another sold at Morphys a few years ago with a Peerless marque that came from Marvin's, rather worse for wear in a dexion racking 'cage' to hold the case together. A Miser I think? Anyway, this Bolland (not Tom Boland as they state), is the poor relation of the tomb models in that it has t...

Re: OH, for the "good old days"

A lot has changed since Morphys were in Vegas. So many of the super rich collectors have either died, or split up their collections and sold. Hopefully your auction sales stuff will be listed before those that you want to buy. It's always satisfying that way round I find. I would have gone if I coul...
