Re: Standing in snow looking at a car park.
Speaking of which even industry leaders Nobles have just sold out their entire estate of arcades , more than 85 sites, except Brighton ( Palace) Pier and Coral Island, Blackpool, which is perhaps an indication of how much the industry has been affected. They have decided to invest in London steak ho...

Re: Standing in snow looking at a car park.
You forgot to mention the numerous betting shops BP, which is the primary reason the arcades (both costal and inland) have either gone or are on their knees financially. Each bookie is really a gaming centre , each with 4 machines with 35 different games to play on each machine . Possible to gamble ...

Thanks for posting. For me, watching traditional motor driven cams with pulleys operating rods and levers and wires that bring everything to life at the front is the exciting part and I appreciate it's a whole load easier using electronic components. It's interesting you have taken your inspiration ...

Re: Morphy Coin Op Sale Jan 30-31 2016
It came up just after one of the Bollands and after I came off the phone bid, I hadn't paid it much attention but it went cheap I thought, unlike most other things. The room on both days was busy, a lot of people with a lot of money to spend who noticed other things they liked whilst they were there

Re: Insuring our toys
I know what you mean about not trusting them, they are complete sharks. With a larger claim the first thing they look at is their potential liability, how much they could have to pay you out, the second thing is a way to get out of paying at all, conditions in your policy document etc that you may h...

Re: insuring our toys
Usually most normal household policies require single machines over £2000 to be specified, whole machine collections can be listed and added with an additional premium. Valuation should reflect rarity of machines and availability to replace them if you had to, for example if easy to replace, then th...

Re: Arcade Photographs
The review of the Pennies By The Sea book states that it is sad that so few photographs inside arcades exist, saying that they were rarely considered worthy of photographing. I agree, but I think the real reason is because the owners didn't like people taking photographs inside their arcades. This ...

Re: Morphy Las Vegas Auction
I am at the preview in Vegas. Its usually a very well attended auction and generally speaking prices are medium to high compared to the UK with a few exceptions. If you're buying something like a QT, great carry it home in hand luggage. Shipping is not cheap, I hire space in a private shipping conta...

Re: Where to find a nice example?
I have had a lot of Mini Maxi rivieras over the years and they seem to be quite common. All of them have been good with original chrome I think because a lot were kept indoors at room temperature in collections rather than stored commercially. Once you put anything with chrome in an environment wher...
