Re: Fluorescent starters

Typical lack of series starter issue. Go to City Electrical Factors or similar electrical wholesaler (not B&Q, etc.) and ask for series starters. That will sort out your problem.

Re: Fluorescent starters

We use series starters in our shop ceiling lights (4 fluorescent tubes, 2 x 2).
Many of the 1970s fruit machines with a tube top and bottom of the reel glass only used series starters, all 240 volt supply.

Re: Fluorescent starters

Not all starters are the same, some use series starters, it depends how it’s wired. Try series starters - might sort out the issue.

Another example of easy when you know how. I think I had this same issue many years ago and never got to the bottom of it.

I think the background photos would have put me off in relation to the source of machines and means of fast disposal.

Re: Electro-mechanical Wall Machines

I agree. It's a real talent to be able to do a voiceover in an entertaining way and you do it very well. I think the cracks are probably in the best position they could be if there was a choice. They almost blend in with the lines of the coloured segments. If the cracks run though, they could go rig...

Re: Job lot at auction

Not exactly politically correct (as not monkeys that are climbing!), but worth double. Nice piece for home collection, but problematic to operate.

Re: 1933 Nervograph & Drivatest

Very cool. Not something I'd particularly want to buy, but fascinating all the same and it's great it's going to be restored properly.

Re: 1933 Nervograph & Drivatest

The steering wheel looks huge. On average I wonder how long a roll of paper lasted? After conversion to a Drivatest would the paper roll printed with 6 different tracks and then repeat?

Re: Streets Wheel Em In identified

I have seen some older Streets Wheel Em In machines with a vertical rubber conveyor belt right at the back, about 8 inches wide, with rows of short brass spikes in zig zags across the belt (several inches apart) all the way around the belt sticking through about an inch on the outer side of the belt...
