Re: Balfour Silver Queen identified

I've never seen a mechanical slot made by Bell Fruit.
I have read that the tooling for the "Silver Queen" went on to be used for Bell-Fruit's "Three Alike", although I've never even seen a photo of "Three Alike" :!?!:

Re: Misspent youth

Irons are inexpensive and work OK, but soldering guns are better - instant high heat. First thing you will find is it takes a while to heat the area, then suddenly it's too hot. If you're soldering a wire to a switch, try to clip some sort of metal clip to the switch to act as a heat sink to avoid o...

Re: Misspent youth

Back in the '70s, long before I started collecting slots, I collected and fixed pinballs. I owned the earlier 1950s Straight Flush which was a truly great machine, great play and always repairable. Of all the machines I owned, it was second only to the "Kings and Queens". I bought both fro...

Ambulance makes unwelcome visit to cottage next door

7.30am today I woke to the noise of this ambulance hitting the cottage two doors along from mine. No one hurt, guess the driver fell asleep. He failed to turn the bend and hit at top speed. The boulder you can see next to the van was picked up and thrown 15 feet. The house will need to be re-built. ...

Re: Ebay & Gambling Commission

My friendly MP Norman Baker has, at long last, received a reply from the minister who covers the machine licences. I won't show it here because it's useless. Just goes on about his people finding us a solution and that solution is a single machine permit. Anyway, neither I nor Norman Baker are satis...

Re: Bradshaw's Little Stockbroker

In an attempt to understand how this machine works, I've downloaded the patent and it makes interesting and, to me anyway, surprising reading. The first thing I noticed is that although the "stocks and shares" version is stated as the "constructional" version it could be converte...

Re: Bradshaw's Little Stockbroker

Really good video, and my Cricketers could be either of those shown in close-up. I can see no differences to mine as it was before I started to strip it down. Interesting thing about the video, I've looked at it carefully and not one person looks to be having a good time!! Not a single smile, half t...

Re: Bradshaw's Little Stockbroker

Mine did come from Margate. The guy had six, all of which he had sold (too cheap) to one guy. I managed to get him to sell me this one out of the six, complete with original locks and keys, for a little more than the other guy was offering (but still cheap). I'll be very interested to see how much t...

help needed with a "little stockbroker"

Topic merged - Site Admin. OK, so I don't usually work on machines like this, but I always wanted one and I'm giving it a go, BUT I opened it up and haven't got a clue how it works. I know they are pre-determined payouts. I believe this one is complete, well almost (see below), but I need to unders...

Re: Spot the Deliberate Mistake?

Fold a slight crease in the middle Putting a tuck in the middle is not a good idea and should be condemned out of hand. It would result in a sign that said "Pier Ase ments"| which could lead to confusion :tut Actually, I already have two of these signs. I had both created at the same time...

Re: Spot the Deliberate Mistake?

I suggest cutting a slot through the far wall and sliding the sign half way through, that way you can have allwins in two rooms instead of one with room for a possible four more saving money on a second sign, simples

Re: Ever hear of a Manhattan slot machine

The Manhattan appears to always have the Mad Money reels. The case is almost certainly a copy. A sure way to tell is to try a rear bonnet from a Sega. If yours is a copy, it won't fit. Check to see if the Mad Money is paying out. If it is, then yes, change the top box and it will be correct. I don't...

Having bought three of these from a second story flat all on the same day, I can confirm, in a somewhat squeeky voice, that they are indeed the heaviest of all the mechanical slots !!HYPNO!!

Re: That's different ......

Are you saying this was always on half a np? That would mean that when it was new, a large payout of 20 coins would equal just 4 6d coins! A poor payout for a machine 10 years older! If you had gone into an arcade with this setup the long winter evenings would have just flown by !!SUICIDAL!!
