Re: help with a new project! (hello again everyone)

Hi Lora, you won't get better advice than from Badpenny and Stuart. I couldn't begin to try. I expect you know of Tim Hunkin but if not, it's worth a look at http://www.underthepier.com as it might give some other ideas to chew on. P.S. my father used to quote "those whom the gods love die youn...

Re: Bonhams knowle auction 7th Dec 2010

go to the link for the auction.Retreeva and Payramid look reasonable as do some of the others. As usual difficult to say without seeing them. I (like many others have been caught out by buying unseen ).

Re: Bonhams knowle auction 7th Dec 2010

15% seller 20% buyer (!!!!!!). Everyone should realise how reasonable the rates at coventry are plus a far greater expertise and a huge amount of hard work. No other auction can match it.

Re: Bonhams knowle auction 7th Dec 2010

if anyone can get a retreeva within the guide price ( assuming its in good condition ) will be lucky (the payramid is low too ). It will be interesting to see the prices achieved

Re: Rare Bryans Elevenses

Silly me. I had wondered if someone might have cannibalised a four square and made a side by side from two of the machines, particularly as the Elevenses was such a popular machine for the Four Square. So yes, it must have been a special or a private conversion. I used to play Bryans machines along ...

Re: Rare Bryans Elevenses

I think these could be from a Four Square which would explain the lack of a cashbox and their identical casing.

Stuart I think it would be an excellent idea to do an article.... particularly as Jerry is looking for some more at the moment.

Re: German Exacta

Hi Malcymal. I have an Exacta and its a great machine to play. When I finally get my camera working I'll post a picture. Mine has veneer and formica ( which actually looks very good) . Mine works on old penny and I haven't seen one on a 2p. I would only comment that whilst whatever you are comfortab...

Re: Velomat - Coventry auction

Thanks Stuart & Badpenny for the helpful comments. Before I go any further I will post some pics but will be a small delay as I sort out my camera (and in due course how to upload the pictures). I seem to remember someone posted some advice on this (one of you or perhaps Penny Machines but I can...

Re: velomat coventry auction

Thanks treefrog I'll keep you informed. Hello Stuart. Hope you are well. The Velomat has a button marked 'start' (it is actually a restart button). If you press it when it is lit, you can re-spin the middle reel to try to get a winning combination. This does not work. However once you put the coin i...

Re: velomat coventry auction

Thanks treefrog. This is the same machine and Harold told me about the slight problem before I bought it. It actually plays very well and is a good fun machine to play... he didn't have a wiring diagram and in truth if he couldn't fix I would be extremely surprised if there is anyone else who could....

Velomat - Coventry auction

Did anyone here buy the above? I have one with a slight problem & could do with a wiring diagram and would be very grateful for a copy from the buyer if they have one or from anyone else if they could help.

Re: I'LL TAKE A DOZEN

Looking at the condition (back flash shot and damaged behind no doubt, extensive rust and much rechroming to do with the 'flicker' rusted and hanging loose plus no picture of workings etc. etc ) & taking into account current price for one in good condition I can only assume the seller meant £75 ...

Re: Guilt by omission?

I am with J P on this one. Caveat Emptor is one of the oldest aphorisms and still largely relevant today. However I think the description was misleading. I suppose one should always look especially carefully on ebay and ask questions, particularly when, unlike a real auction, you cannot inspect befo...

Mills Extraordinary

Any Mills fan seen the above on ebay (230440845174 )? The markings and workings suggest original although I assume new paint job, possibly hiding worse problems than just at the top and the handle looks very bright. I assume not as popular as other Mills (unless there are some unduly high prices out...

Re: Pressies

Yes I agree .This community is made up mostly of people who actually like the machines rather than just for the money (although there will be a few ).If someone sells something that is a wrong'un it is unlikely they will get away with it again. However please don't forget market and auction here.I w...
