Chicagoland
Went to the show last weekend and had a great time! Wasn't expecting much in the way of games but really just to catch up with many collector friends from across the US and to make new ones. So many interesting people and then machines and other stuff to keep me busy. It's no wonder the US collectio...

Jingle - same game, it's the owner who had the talkie scale and two Brenner deco machines.

Re: Showman's Paint
Bob, what about a few pics of the Aussie versions with the cast face, SS LUNA I think? I found the registered design for them. Very cool for a non British Allwin/Wineasy.

Re: Old coin catcher
I was wondering the same thing, but the photos aren't big enough to see the detail. Though if you look at the interior shot and roof shot you can see two filled holes the same dia as the token tube on the lhd. So I imagine there was a seperate payout originally, probably the centre payout was the hi...

Re: Slots in Australia.
Andy, there are actually quite a lot of coin-op collectors in Aust with early slots, you'd be surprised. And I'm sure quite a few I don't know about. There just isn't an easy way to find many of them except for word of mouth amongst other collectors.

Re: Anyone got some brass tubing?
Scrap metal yards are awesome for this type of stuff. I rarely ever buy brand new brass - alloy - steel - stainless - tin - plastic - glass etc etc for anything, just pick it up whenever I can for a fraction of the price too. And a another big reason for me is that the scrap has age so blends in wit...

Re: $40,000 and reserve not met yet !!!
Makes my quest to find one arm bandits around the £100 mark look completely inconsequential and pointless!!! Ha, I've often thought the same thing, especially when visiting million dollar collections. But I have to say that particularly in the US a lot of people here get quite blase because of the ...

Re: $40,000 and reserve not met yet !!!
Amazingly enough I've seen this machine in person and played it. I certainly don't value it as highly as the seller does or the handful of other collectors that have pushed the value up to this point. I think that as the older collectors disappear from the hobby we'll see these prices drop on a numb...

i also believe that 99 percent of the people on this web site have seen an item on ebay and asked for a buy it now price at sometime of there lives, well there just as guilty as the seller removing it,,,, Well, I haven't in all my years, so I'm either incredibly honest or more probably just down ri...

Hey Andy, did you import the Operator Bell yourself from the US or find it locally?

Re: Veneer
Depends how much of a purist you are. I rarely ever totally reveneer as the orig patina is lost forever. If you're careful, flakey parts can be glued down and missing pieces matched in. Often, all it takes is painting in the matching colour and grain lines afterwards to totally hide a repair. Otherw...

Hey, I still have a ton of stuff, mostly awaiting attention of course, and currently in the US buying up. Recently bought some rare pieces that I've been having great fun researching. And off to Chicagoland at the end of the month.

Re: Has Anyone Seen An Allwin Like This Before??
Pretty sure these are Aussie made or possibly also from NZ. We found 4 x similiar examples in Perth West Aust, but they had cast alloy doors and cig packet payout mechs. All on 6d. Very basic to say the least. We sold all of them unrestored which is something that rarely happens.

Re: Middlehurst Coronet
Hey Andy, Rory here, how's it going. Been a while since we last talked. You were thinking of selling some machines at the time. As for how that Coronet ended up in the states, I imagine it was shipped over mixed in with old US made product. Bob Klepner has told me stories of a dealer selling new slo...

Re: Paint for glass
Since you didn't mention it, I assume it's not a light up sign? Otherwise enamel is no good as it blocks the light. I use acrylic laquer myself but it takes experience. Water based paints work well since you can wash them off until it's right, and then seal if it matches OK.

Hey Todd, again thanks for the interesting information. I'd forgotten all about this machine. I never traded for it so, other than these photos, that's all I ever saw of it or any of the others. Was way too expensive to bother with. Cheers, gameswat.

Re: Mills front OK vendor
Hey Todd, thanks for the info! That makes total sense as I'd wondered why an NZ operator would have ordered these things with all the options ticked. Some great machines have definately come out of NZ and Aust too. And thanks for the offer of moving some machines. Sadly nothing sitting around there ...
