Because it says 'WIN' in huge letters could be a reason!

Re: Sega Diamond 3 Star Jackpot Mechanism

Payout slides are plentiful; they are Mills-pattern. The escalator is probably a roll-down Shefras type, a very common retro-fit from the day. Unless you are an absolute perfectionist, you should be able to make a credible machine from this with very little effort, especially with the expert guidanc...

How horrible!
That needs sorting-out straight away.
The numbers on the award card represent the number of coins paid out, irrespective of the value.
Anything else would be seen as a SWIZZ!

Single cherry pays 4?
I've only ever seen that on a Buckley.

I'll have a look on mine, although I'm fairly sure it's been taken off.
The columns aren't blanked, though.

Re: Hello from rural Hampshire

It might be better, initially, to leave it on the smaller coin. It must have had new slides, unless someone has carefully brazed the penny slides up.
It would probably take the pre-decimal ha'penny as it is, which might be a little bit odd, but at least gets rid of the decimal menace.

Re: Niche Collections

Spiral games fit into the 'Can't win on them' category.
I'll be visiting an arcade at Scarborough tomorrow, which has one. I'll report back if I get a win!
Wonders Boomerang also fits this category.

Re: Hello from rural Hampshire

That's likely to be a conversion of a Novomat, or some similar German type.
Can't imagine how the 2p coin conversion was done. The original conversion to Old Penny left the payout slides perilously thin, which, along with the pot-metal castings, didn't help with longevity.

Re: Bally Money Honey/Super Sonic conversion

It all looks complete, and ready to plug in.
You will have to work out where the notch needs to be. This is what stops the disc in the right place after the payout has been made, ready for the next payout. The two silver-coloured studs will probably be involved in this process, too.

Re: Bally Money Honey/Super Sonic conversion

The missing rotor will be in the form of a disc, with a brass wiper which can join the central brass ring to one of the studs. It will also have a notch or notches to operate the switch at the bottom. The studs correspond to the 5-4-3-2-1 pulses mentioned earlier, but not necessarily in order. Can t...

Are cherries on the third reel a Jennings feature? I've never noticed them.
I thought the concept of 'three cherries' started with the Bell-Fruit electro-mechanicals.

Have you thought of building an allwin to your own design, using salvageable parts from old Nostalgic Machines?
I have two donors waiting for such re-use.

Re: Replacement step motor

Now we're getting somewhere. Note that the single cherry on the payout card pays 4, same as the oranges. This is odd, and tells us that one operation of the payout slide drops four coins. The higher awards are therefore 2, 3, 4 and 5 operations respectively. We now need to locate the device which ca...
