More progress today - now to leave it dry before giving it a cut and polish then it's time to start the re assembly.

Thanks Nigel.
I'll keep the updates coming ;)
Gave it a cut and polish today and pretty happy with the results, maybe even too good a result - I wanted nice, not new.
Have to wait for the chrome platers to finish the legs and coin plate etc., so this will be the last update till then. Don't want to start the target section until this sections 100% done.

Got the parts back from the electroplaters so I could finally re assemble the gun stand. I'm pretty happy with the results. Now I need some free time to do the target section
Re: 1954 Seeburg Coon Hunt shooting gallery refresh
Really wish I'd taken some better before photos but here's a comparison
Re: 1954 Seeburg Coon Hunt shooting gallery refresh
This game had taken a back seat as I don't have the room to strip and restore the big target section. But I've had a bad back so finally made up the new cable from the target section to the gun stand which got me tinkering again.
Got the score section working again and cleaned up the moon which lights up when you shoot a coon. Hopefully get rid of a few of these pinball machines soon and get the space I need to finish it.

Well guys it’s only taken 3 years and a pandemic to finally get to do my Coon hunt cabinet,
We were on holidays when the Chinese Virus I mean corona virus went ballistic and the government website said get home ASAP cutting our holiday short and on our return we had to quarantine at home for 2 weeks.
Most people would be upset but not me I have a government order to stay home and not deal with anyone outside my house so without no options to work or help others I had 2 weeks to do my own games that have been put off.
2 days the wife was already mental well more mental me I have 2 days left and I’m wishing I had longer hahahah
Forgive me if the photos end up on the wrong order they never Seem to post up in the order I select them for some reason

Very nice job, so is it all working as a unit now
Looks like you tested your paint job on the garage door first

You've done a wonderful job! and a fantastic looking and fun game to play too.
I love the American coin-op rifle shooting games. Can Can Wonderland in Minneapolis has a massive floorspace packed with hundreds of similar US vintage electro mechanical arcade machines to play.
My friend Larry operates an arcade there both with these originals, but also impressive, innovative new machines, designed and built in a traditional style.
There is also a massive indoor crazy golf course with the concept and construction of each hole built by a different designer, leading to a truly amazing result, and for pinball enthusiasts another huge collection, displayed and working, and yet another collection of early video, space and other EM rifle shooting games.

Hahaha nah it still won’t work but at least it will look pretty.
I’m still trying to track down a few parts it needs, but I’m pretty sure some Americans think Posting something to Australia opens a portal from hell direct to their gamesroom. Conversations about parts - yep, happy to find you the part etc. etc., ask for a total including shipping and they just stop talking.

Here it is visually back together I’ll start the mechanism one day.
Re: 1954 Seeburg Coon Hunt shooting gallery refresh
Had some of the globes arrive for the cabinet, just waiting on the ones to light up the door scenery.
Also managed to make room and squeeze it into the line up.

Re: 1954 Seeburg Coon Hunt shooting gallery refresh
I recently acquired a Seeburg Shoot The Bear. It needs work, and I figured out that the gun stand was converted from a Coon Hunt. The original start button has been swapped out with a toggle switch. After looking at the wiring a bit, I think they have it so flipping the switch one way will activate the coin mech and the other way will start.
I'm trying to find a replacement switch, ideally the original type or similar. Do you happen to have any pictures of the switch itself or maybe pics from the inside of the stand showing what the underside of the switch looks like?
One funny thing is looking at the stand serial number, ours are 5 apart... Yours is 1297 and mine is 1302.

I’ll sneak out to the shed after dinner and get some photos.
Each coin mech has a switch that the mechanical mech pushes and pulls to engage a credit then the button is just an open close button to start the game, from memory.

Re: 1954 Seeburg Coon Hunt shooting gallery refresh
Thanks! These are extremely helpful. Does the switch have a locking nut underneath, or is it some kind of press fit and stays in by friction?
Now the toggle switch makes sense. I'll have to check if they just moved the coin slide switch up to the top and added the start wires or what. Mine looks like a different switch though.
Also do you have the coin box? I wanted to see how it was constructed and verify the dimension.

Re: 1954 Seeburg Coon Hunt shooting gallery refresh
Yes I have the original cashbox. I’ll try remember to get the measurement for you. The switches are held in place by a nut type thing - hard to see in the photos but there’s a threaded ring holding it in place.
Re: 1954 Seeburg Coon Hunt shooting gallery refresh
I double checked, sure enough they took the credit switch and moved it to where the start switch was.
One more thing, do you have a good picture showing the color of the pilot light in the front bottom when it's lit up? I figured out the loose light inside is for that light but the gem on the front is gone. I doubt I can find an original but hopefully I can match the color.
