I am going to Vegas next month. Where did you see these machines? Be great to take a look at them. Can you play them or are they just for viewing?

Just looked in more detail at your photos and I see they are behind screens so obviously not playable. Still be worth a visit to see them.

Pictures taken from 2 casinos 1st golden gate casino on Fremont st, 2nd one 5 minutes up the road is Main Street station casino and brewery definitely worth eating when your here at the lucky 7 restaurant loads of different beers and great food at low prices.

Only on show john you can't play them but worth a look though.

Up stairs in the D hotel & casino on Fremont st they have oldish style coin slot machines which is nice to see and hear.

I would love to go back to Vegas, crazy place....wouldn't go to see these though, most are machines we have in our collections. Is there a old slot museum in Vegas, seems to be the place to put one?

I asked about if there was a museum but nothing, there is a antique shop with a few in that's about it. It's like they have all disappeared in Vegas.

Pinball Hall of Fame had some machines a few years ago when I visited.

You should try visiting Vegas in conjunction with one of the Morphy auctions (formerly VCA) as they usually have a superb collection on view to browse around several days before the auctions and only a short taxi drive from the strip.

I did visit the Morphy auction venue a few years ago just before a sale date. The place was rammed with items. They let me take all the time I wanted to look at everything they had going in the auction. Nice people.

You will never get a better chance to see a collection of bandits than the Morphy's auction of Barry Goldfarb's collection on 28/29 January 2017. I visited him about 10 years ago and he had over 1000 then! All fully restored. See Calendar page for details. Worth bringing forward your trip or making an extra one!

I'm taking my wife and little boy (10) to Vegas in April for a couple of days from visiting relatives in Los Angeles. It'll be the first time in 15 years I've been to Vegas after having being 13 times previous, I'm really excited about it- I love the place!! I'm glad I know about the bandit display,I'll be sure to have a look when we have a stroll round Fremont Street ...... I'll post some pics after our visit and with any luck we might be able to win a few bucks.... Little story- I once went to the Rio casino and found a couple of machines I'd never seen before( I liked to play on Wheel of Fortune) called Empire State,they were made to look like the Empire State Building with King Kong climbing up the side and if you got the feature Kong would climb the machine and the higher he got,the more you would win(it was a quarter dollar machine), I always played maximum credits just in case a jackpot came in otherwise you wouldn't win the jackpot if it did drop, anyway, I walked up with a $20 bill put it in and on my third spin got the feature and Kong just kept climbing,right up to 6400 credits,winning me a nice little $1600! There was a rather large lady sat on the next machine, ashtray full of tab-ends and looked like trailer trash- She tried to claim it was her money as she had been sat playing for hours on both machines, the slot area boss had to come and explain to her she had no right to my winnings as it was totally random so I left her risking being thrown out with a wry smile on my face and a pocket full of cash....Never did see what happened to her!!

It's been a loooong time since I was in Vegas, Freemont St was still Freemont Street and you drove down it (I've got a vidieo my wife took through the windscreen as we drove down towards the Plaza). That was when the Plaza was the best light show in town. Stayed one night in the Freemont Hotel just to say we had. It was terribly run down, worse than a $30 roadside motel. A roof over the street now and no cars. A pity really, for all its glitter, it was the last part of the old Vegas.

It's been a loooong time since I was in Vegas...

The first time I went they hadn't covered Fremont Street so I never saw it "naked".... and we only went 'cos the hotel concierge said it was unmissable, bit surreal really and we actually walked from Treasure Island (naive move, since it really is a very seedy place to go for a wander at nighttime) away from the mega-resorts on the "Strip".... Still love Vegas though and I've always made a point of trying to see the "real" side of everywhere I've been in the U.S. but with the little fella in tow I suppose we'll need to be a bit more careful!! .......

Unfortunately it's illegal to offer those old machines for play in Nevada now. They don't have the new-fangled electronic monitoring - shoot, you can even open them without an automatic alarm being sent to the authorities - so Gaming Control is constantly worrying that they'll be cheated out of a nickel's tax. I really can't understand why Vegas doesn't have a slot museum. The State Museum in town has a tiny slot display area that when I first saw it, had a bunch of junk in there, including an old penny Sega from England (12d maximum prize), which was a freakin' insult. I donated them a couple of my important machines and they were salivating over another one that I refused to give them, but they don't have space to display them. The space allocated for dancer's G-strings is much larger.
