Aristocrat Elite Bingo

Post by leezybee »

Hi,
First ever one arm bandit - can someone help please;

Do I need to oil or grease any parts at any time?

Does the machine need to be plugged into the electric for the jackpot feature to pay out?

If not, how - in simple terms - does the machine know when to pay out jackpots?

Thanks for all your help.

Photos, photos, photos - we love photos... A picture of the inside and a picture of the outside and all will be revealed to you. If I remember correctly it's a manual JP worked from the slides, but we need to see inside to tell you correctly.

Can anybody tell me if the mains needs to be plugged in for the jackpot to pay out? From the bars to cherries this has paid out without the mains being on.
Thanks.

Nice machine, and looks in good condition. I've never had one of these, but someone on the forum will have, They will tell you at once. In the meantime, I'll try and help.

It's still hard to see from your photos (being sideways dosn't help dirtdog). As far as I can see, it's a mechanical double jackpot. It would have been designed that way at least, but may have been modified to dump on a solenoid. There are ways to check. All the other payouts are controlled by the payout slides which are below the long brass tube that holds the coins. These release when the machine senses a winner at the payout discs, next to the reels themselves. If there is a mechanical JP one of the slides (usually the top one) pulls (or sometimes pushes) a lever to release the JP - so no power needed. If it's electric, the slide usually releases and connects a switch which releases the JP. So first look to see if an electric solenoid is connected to the JP. Also look to see if there is a lever that connects to the JP from one of the slides. Normally the easiest way to check these things is cycle the machine and stop the fan while the reels are turning. This leaves the reels free to turn. You then stop the reels in the JP winning position and release the fan to complete the cycle, then watch and see what happens. Not quite so easy with your machine, because it opens from the front and the fan is at the back, but it can be done. When you remove the mech from the case, is it plugged into the case with a cable? If not, then the JP must be mechanical.

What maintenance is needed on this machine? Should it be oiled or greased or both and, if so, what make and what parts?
Thanks.

Hi, Leezybee. Like you, I am a relative newcomer to these wonderful machines (I have two Aristocrats, so far - I love 'em). There is a lot of information to be found on the Forum if you use the search facility, but I do know there is an Aristocrat manual in the Resources section which will give some good guidance regarding maintenance.
Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Alan.

Basically this machine does not need much maintenance if it's being used at home. The major moving parts should be lightly oiled with sewing machine type oil about every six months. Pay attention to the clock and the main bearings.
There looks like there might be a bit of oxidized grease on some of the parts and this should be cleaned off first. Never oil or grease any part that handles the coins (slides, escalator, etc.); just clean and polish these. With the mech out, cleaning and oiling the handle parts and adjusting the handle return pump will improve things. Check all the lights and replace any that flicker or are dead. There may be soot on the inside of the various glasses where the lights have burnt; this is removed with a light glass cleaner and great care. Once you have done this very light service, just oil every 6 months !!THUMBSX2!!

Aristocrat Bingo

Post by dutchboy »

Topic merged - Site Admin.

Evening everybody,
I saw this Aristocrat for sale. It looks very nice but I'm suspicious about the award card that's been changed and I think also the card for the coinage. The seller says the machine has never used and the counter says a total of about 2200 coins has passed by. What do you think about this one? :#:
Thanks dutchboy

I wouldn't worry too much about the 25c play, it started as, perhaps, 5p/shilling. With the jackpots in place it would have been a club/casino or cruise machine at some stage. I bought the same model a few years ago in mint, almost unused condition for not much money....enjoy.

Thanks raj, I didn't buy it yet. I was a little afraid that they messed around with the payout slides and the change of the payout on the front I dislike. But I have to say I like the machine and it looks brand new.

I do have a couple of these somewhere and yes someone has tried I assume to match the payout to the coin it is now on. Whether with the existing slides or with new slides, difficult to tell.

See link below from a UK 10p version machine. (Link now merged above - Site Admin.)

The payout numbers do not seem odd so it may have been new slides to match the coin as the original flash would have stated UK coinage, not number of coins.

The changed payout card is not unusual - they were most likely done by the operator and done poorly. You will be able to make a much better job of them when you restore the machine. Take no notice of the counter, often disconnected for long periods, run round the total or most likely gummed up inside and not clicking over every time. Clean it, re-set it and use it as a personal game record. The chrome looks good. Remove all the glass and clean it, replace any faded tubes (available on ebay by the dozen - very cheap), remove any oxidised grease, lightly oil and it will run for ever.
