Re: Bell Fruit Three Penny Supreme
I'll do the last shamrock when I can. I've taken the marks out of the coin, looks good, all the letters need to be edged next. The shamrock next to the coin had been applied slightly wrong at the factory so I corrected it.

Bloody Hell it's looking amazing and you did the coin (which looks miles better even though you said you weren't doing it) - it's better than factory finish.
Re: Bell Fruit Three Penny Supreme
An hour Coppin? Colour change should be really quick with something like the paint bucket tool on Adobe.

Re: Bell Fruit Three Penny Supreme
not if the cracks in the paint cause the section tool to break all the fillable areas in to tiny sections, often a few pixels across, is there some reason why you always suggest Im doing things wrong on this site? please feel free to take over the job if you want to give the man the time and effot

I guess your talking about the posts regarding the Jennings Penny Star? viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5481&start=10coppinpr wrote:is there some reason why you always suggest Im doing things wrong on this site?
If I see things written here that I know are incorrect, or think could be incorrect then I'm going to speak up, doesn't matter who makes the claims if I think they're wrong. I did ask you for proof of your claims.
Re: Bell Fruit Three Penny Supreme
This is what the paint bucket tool excels at. All you need is a solid outline and then you can fill in the inside with any colour you want very quickly. There are multiple ways to get the same result but this tool is one of the few I bother with use as speeds up the process no end. I'm not saying there aren't jobs that don't take hours and hours, usually due to poor quality artwork in the beginning.coppinpr wrote:not if the cracks in the paint cause the section tool to break all the fillable areas in to tiny sections, often a few pixels across

no Im actually talking about the last three years, but forget that its not importantI guess your talking about the posts regarding the Jennings Penny Star
what im saying is you cant get a solid outline over a large area on this piece,I do ,of course, use the "fill" tool combined with the selection tool to get a solid outline, because the paint has degraded to many colours and the flakes are so small its often necessary to flood fill very tiny areas, this takes time, then there is the even smaller areas the flood wont grab, plus the flakes of other colour paint that has migrated to the area your working on,then there is item outline which has degraded into a brown smudge and has to be re lined, you may well be able to do it in 5 mins,,,I cant, Like I said you want to do it,thats fine with me

Re: Bell Fruit Three Penny Supreme
I'd like to add I'm grateful either way, I've had the machine 10 years and it's stood in the corner most of that time with me wondering if I'd ever get it finished and within days of finding this site things are happening. Thanks to this forum, for all the input, the good work and what I've seen so far is amazing.

Re: Bell Fruit Three Penny Supreme
I had nothing to do today so re-edged the letters and finished the top glass as far as I can. It's up to you now if you want to use it, it's in the site's Resources section both face up and flipped for printing. If you want me to look at the belly glass and no one wise comes forward let me know in two weeks time (I'm in Morocco and Sicily till then).

Re: Bell Fruit Three Penny Supreme
thought Id take a quick look at the belly glass and strangely enough I think it will be easier than the top glass, not so much tiny fragments, the the photo is much smaller than the top glass one though (57k) might need a higher res photo to do a good job and that might increase the damage that shows. In 5 mins I managed to get this far including replacing the damaged payout symbols

Re: Bell Fruit Three Penny Supreme
Well it's just fantastic and yes I'll definitely be using it, I will however need someone to give me an idea who to use for printing and what exactly to ask for when seeking to get it printed, though I won't be doing that until the other part is done and I'm very happy to wait two weeks. You enjoy your holiday, I've never been to either but my mam's been to Morocco and I've been to Sardinia which is a great place and probably similar. Once again many thanks for the great work. Mick

Only just seen this, I agree it will need to be bigger. I don't really understand how it is that small. Someone will need to tell me how to upload it bigger or I can email it. It's 5224 × 3397 (4.6 MB) on my computer before I uploaded it on the forum.coppinpr wrote:...the photo is much smaller than the top glass one though (57k)...

Re: Bell Fruit Three Penny Supreme
Thanks for the hi-res photo by email. now I can see the extent of the damage, its a lot! you couldnt have repaired this glass, there are literally 100's of paint cracks and movements. Ive made a start just for fun and its moving along quicker than the top glass(so far). you can see from the results of the first stage work on the shamrocks how many cracks show up. Ive done about 50% of the yellow background and Im down to the very small cracks now. had some fun re doing the payout table but still lots to do in that area too.The lettering was in better shape than the top glass and has moved forward real fast.As before its those old mirrored areas that are the real problem, the shamrocks and the frames but its coming along.

Re: Bell Fruit Three Penny Supreme
Yep, I did think it was too much to repair myself as soon as I touched the original the paint work just either moved or fell off. It's looking good already. Is it possible for you to take the background colour from the payout table on this glass and then change the colour on the top glass around the threepenny bit to match?
Ps: don't forget to go on your holiday.

Re: Bell Fruit Three Penny Supreme
Ok,here is the latest draft before I go on vacation, Its a good job you decided to restore the machine when you did,I dont think the glass would have lasted much longer, it looks ok till you dig deeper, there are not 100's of scratches and flakes there are actually 1000's. The shamrock Ive just finished had over 500 seperate damage points, I thought Id time myself being as there has been some dispute about how long it takes, using a combination of flood, clone and paint it took me 57 mins, and I enjoyed every min
dont worry I wont forget to go on hols,I need a break,Rome tomorrow and its ..now let me see almost 18 days since I was last there, then Sicily..it over 4 weeks since I was there . The guys on here will tell you I like to travel...my weakness...well one of themPs: don't forget to go on your holiday.
