No windows or any way to check the coin.

I don't recall it paying out anything other than a gumball.
I remember it as being like all "21" games, a trade stim for the shop keeper to monitor and pay out.

Yes, I understand it's an attendant pay but what's to stop you playing 1cent then telling attendant you played 5c or any other higher denomination coin, as in video he says it takes any coin or any coin that the coin slot takes.......?

Just presumed that there would be some quick visible check of the last coin unless the machine is only played in front of an attendant?

I thought that too when seeing the video (although I think I fell asleep a couple of times while the guy was laboriously explaining the workings). There are machines like the Groetchens that allow for several coin sizes but always the last coin is held for the operator to view. I suspect the one in the video just happens to take more than one coin size. What coins will yours take widge?

Mine seems to only take 1d.

Mills made three machines in this series: Kounter King, Wild Deuces, and Fruit King. All machines used the same mechanism, all were multi coinage. The witness window is in the rear door along with the reset button. While the Kounter King and Wild Deuces use 5 reels the Fruit King only uses 3 (the 2 outside reels are blanked by the 3 hole reel cover). Hope this helps.

Is it likely Widge's machine was made as a 1 coin machine version? Seems unlikely he has the wrong back-door with no window?

I dont doubt you're right at all, could still be this was a UK conversion. Interesting to know if widge's machines has a blanked of rear door or a plain one.
I assume the reset button released the visual coin. Also interesting to know if Widge's machine has the internal parts that dealt with this.

This is the only photo I can find of the back. Does this look like Widget's or Jra's? Is that the reject door or the coin view?

That is the viewing window and reset button as it is on my machines, although looking at that picture it looks like a piece of tin with a gap at the bottom so could have been converted to a reject slot, whereas mine is all glass.

Could be mine has a repro door as mine is solid with no windows or buttons. Will take a look inside it tomorrow.

I can confirm mine takes any coin as well. Must be a repro back door on it as it's solid.

Maybe when a win is notified, the attendant presses the reset button and the last coin deployed drops out of the chute so he knows what denomination to repay against?
