Bryan's worlborl picture
Has anyone got a picture of a worlborl that it would of looked like, not sure if I like the idea of painting the whole bottom part green, I'm. Not convinced they were like that?
Re: Bryan's worlborl picture
Presume you have seen this one on the melright site?
www.melright.com/bryans/collect.htm item dated July 2016 Or is that in fact the green you are referring to?

That's the green I'm referring to, don't think it was made like that when new

Re: Bryan's worlborl picture
Hi. I think that they were painted. I just think that if they are newly painted during a restoration the paint looks too bright and new. The corner castings on the Allwins definitely were painted, and mine show remnants of original colour , which I have not re done as I believe that they deserve to look 50 + years old rather than brand new.
My Worlball has the original finish.
This is another machine, not mine:
Re: Bryan's worlborl picture
Hi Widget. I have a worlball.Original condition but with a previous owner's half hearted attempt to restore chrome bits. I am over 90% sure that the back cloth is not painted but pre-coloured leatherette ( ie synthetic not real leather ). It is a light green and not the darker colour on the elephant house picture.A lot of the orginals had dotted white lines ( fairly crudely painted to show the likely projection of the balls) as per both machines. His may be different and he knows a lot more than I do. I think the EH one has been painted over. you can get this leatherette type from sites that sell for recovering old writing desks.Lots on the net and ebay. Can get real leather too. Trying to find the suppplier I used before for something else but so far to no avail.

Sorry to change the subject but does anyone know how many balls should be in and what size?
And anyone thinking of doing them water decals of the 2 players I don't envy you, what a hard job lol

Re: Bryan's worlborl picture
I believe early Worlborls had a dark green leatherette, later a lighter green and some of the last ones were orange. As many as 10 balls were included - the advantage of an even number was that it encouraged repeat play in the event of a draw.

Yes. That does make sense. I'll add another ball to my machine. I'd forgotten that the Bryan's Allsport usually came with 10 (no doubt for the same reason).
