Can anyone help me? For years I have wanted an Allwin machine, but could not afford one. But recently I was offered at a bargain price a Nostalgic. It was in poor condition, faded back flash and rusted, so I have tried to restore it to how I thought a '50s type of machine should look.





There is a problem with it that I don't know how to fix. When the ball goes through the LOSE hole, it comes out again by the hammer hole.





I did find in the bottom coin tray a part which I assume is the missing link but I don't know where it goes.



I would be very grateful for any help you can give me.

In the two back photos you can clearly see the wire that holds the ball is in place is there, and it seems to be free moving as shown in the open and closed positions. All I can suggest is that the coin trip lever is not returning after a coin hits it. It should just lift that wire long enough to release the ball and drop it back. If you can't make sense of it, then try a piece of clear plastic instead of the tin over that ball release part and watch what happens when you lose a ball, and then drop a coin.

Not sure the nail should be there??? Won't be helping matters...

The extra bit you found at the bottom can be inserted into the ball channel slot so that, after a win, the ball bypasses the capture wire and is returned for a free play.

Looks a gazillion times better without that dark varnish and a much finer choice of backflash artwork, nicely done. I think it looks much better without that marquee on top too.

Thank you very much for all your advice, it works nicely now. I was afraid I would get a roasting for changing the original look but I'm very pleased you agree with me over the improved look.

I acquired a Nostalgic Machines 'Hole In One' and the backflash is -predictably- sun damaged/discoloured and warped.. So I wonder if anybody knows of a template for it.. ..Or could I replace it with a similar backflash? Its a mk 1 machine..

I know this machine isn't exactly an enthusiast's choice, but it's quite fun! Martyn

I also have a 'Hole in One', seriously faded.
I wasn't going to bother with it, but I might just have a go, seeing how good they can look.
I suppose the front cover of a Doctor Who annual could be a suitable backflash.
